One of my favorite aspects of the Detroit Lions, since head coach Dan Campbell and general manager Brad Holmes arrived in 2021, is their ability to respond to adversity. Even after a tough loss like the one in Week 6 to the Kansas City Chiefs, you can see the confidence this team has with the way they carry themselves during the following week. There isn’t any moping around or lack of energy. Instead, they are ready to get back on the horse and get things corrected so they can get back into the win column the next time they play.
While that starts with Campbell and the culture he and his staff have implemented over the years, the players play a big part in that mindset, too. And it’s a good thing they are wired that way, considering they have the 5-1 Tampa Bay Buccaneers coming to town for a Week 7 showdown on “Monday Night Football.”
Like the Lions, Tampa Bay is also dealing with a slew of injuries in the early portion of the 2025 season, and yet, they are still playing some really good football. Quarterback Baker Mayfield is playing some of the best football of his career, and the defense is as tough as usual.
And that brings us to our question of the day:
Which Lions player or position group do you think needs to have a big day in order for Detroit to pick up a win in Week 7?
My answer: I am going with the offensive line. To be honest, I think we as a fanbase have been a bit spoiled by the offensive line in recent years. And while there have been portions of games where the group has been dominant, they have yet to really impose their will on an opponent like in years past.
I would personally love a vintage performance from the big guys against Tampa Bay. As mentioned earlier, the Bucs’ defense is no slouch, currently sitting at sixth overall in rush defense DVOA. With that said, they should encounter a motivated and hungry Lions’ team on Monday night, which is why I think we’ll see a game where the running game pops, allowing Detroit to dictate the tempo.
What about you? Which Lions player or position group do you think needs to have a strong performance in order for Detroit to get back in the win column? Let us know in the comments below.
