How bout them Cincinnati Bengals???
The Bengals are finally back in the win column after a thrilling victory over their division rival, the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Joe Flacco was stellar in his home debut as a Bengal and made it clear he has full intentions of simply feeding the ball to Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins.
Chase finished the night with 16 catches (franchise record, previously held by himself) for 161 yards and a touchdown, followed by Higgins with six catches for 96 yards and a touchdown of his own.
As exciting as those stat lines are, there were a few extra things the superstar wide receiver duo did that may not show up in the box score but certainly helped demonstrate their leadership on this team.
Chase has made it clear he enjoys the blocking aspect of football and had another highlight in the category tonight for true football fans that love things like this:
Uno never takes plays off, and he made sure to get out in front of his running back, Chase Brown, to help him as much as possible during an explosive play.
Higgins also had a veteran play tonight that should be talked about more than it has been so far tonight.
Flacco lobbed a dime to Higgins in a crucial moment, and instead of finding his way into the end zone for the score, he slid down after the catch to keep the clock going and force the Steelers to use the remainder of their timeouts.
Again, both of these plays by the vet receivers won’t be in the stat book tomorrow morning, but both plays are crucial for the success of this team… These are little things that matter.
