All is right with the world — Aidan Hutchinson is back on top in the pass rushing charts.
Pro Football Focus released its pass-rusher rankings ahead of Week 7, with the Detroit Lions star sitting at No. 1. With 36 total pressures, he’s graded at 93.1 with a 25.4% pass-rush win rate.
“After a slow start to the season by his standards (two pressures), Hutchinson has been the league’s most productive pass rusher, generating 34 pressures and six sacks over the past five games,” writes PFF’s Ryan Smith.
I took a look at his previous rankings throughout the course of the season so far. PFF only names the top 32 players each week, and the grades are issued after a game, so you won’t see Hutch’s Week 1 ranking on the list
- Week 6: 92.2 grade, ranked No. 2 behind Micah Parsons
- Week 5: 92.1 grade, ranked No. 4 behind Parsons, Myles Garrett, and Joey Bosa
- Week 4: 82.9 grade, ranked No. 17
- Week 3: 74.9 grade, ranked No. 21
- Week 2: Unlisted
“Hutchinson was on a record pace last season — his 72 pass-rush wins were the most recorded by any defensive player in the PFF era over the first six weeks of a season (and Detroit had a bye, as well) before he suffered a fractured tibia and fibula and missed the rest of the campaign,” Smith writes. “Hutchinson is back on top of the rankings, with a 93.1 PFF pass-rush grade, after yet another strong game in Kansas City. The former No. 2 overall pick out of Michigan also ranks fourth in the NFL in pass-rush win rate (25.4%) and is on the short list of Defensive Player of the Year favorites through Week 6.”
Like I said, all is right in the world.
