We know that quarterback is the most important position on the field, but a great pass rush is the ultimate equalizer. Pressure disrupts timing, rhythm and accuracy, something only the elite quarterbacks can consistently overcome.
Last season, 13 of the top 15 teams in PFF pass-rush grade had a winning record. In 2023, 15 of the top 16 teams in PFF pass-rush grade had a winning record. A dominant pass-rush is undeniably crucial to a team’s success over the course of the season.
Each week, after every NFL game is graded and reviewed, PFF will check in on the top pass rushers of the 2025 season. These rankings will change drastically early in the campaign, as one sack, hit or pressure can significantly alter a player’s grade when the sample size is small. But as snap counts rise, the grades will stabilize and we’ll get a clearer picture of the league’s best pass rushers.

Week 6 Highlights
Best Pass Rusher: Nick Herbig, Pittsburgh Steelers
Herbig was part of a relentless Steelers pass rush that generated 32 pressures and six sacks against the Browns. His 92.6 PFF pass-rush grade led the NFL in Week 6, marking his fifth game with a 90.0-plus PFF pass-rush grade since the start of last season.
Verse, Chaisson and Williams tied for the league lead in pressures generated (eight) in Week 6. The eight pressures were a career high for Chaisson, while it tied Verse’s best effort from his rookie season last year. Although it was not a career high for Williams (nine pressures twice), he last reached that figure nearly a decade ago (2016) as a member of the New York Jets.
Highest Win Rate: Jared Verse, Los Angeles Rams
Verse was one of three players who logged a 30.0%-plus pass-rush win rate in Week 6, leading the way with a 33.5% clip. The former Florida State Seminole was excellent in his rookie season last year and has taken his game to another level in his sophomore campaign as one of the league’s best edge defenders at just 24 years old.
Best Rookie Pass Rusher: Warren Brinson, Green Bay Packers
Brinson made his NFL debut and was utilized primarily on passing downs, as 19 of his 21 snaps came as a pass rusher. The sixth-round pick out of Georgia logged an 80.6 PFF pass-rushing grade, the top mark among rookies, after generating two pressures and a 23.5% win rate in the Packers’ victory over the Bengals.
Season Highlights
Best Pass Rusher: Aidan Hutchinson, Detroit Lions
Hutchinson was on a record pace last season — his 72 pass-rush wins were the most recorded by any defensive player in the PFF era over the first six weeks of a season (and Detroit had a bye, as well) before he suffered a fractured tibia and fibula and missed the rest of the campaign.
Hutchinson is back on top of the rankings, with a 93.1 PFF pass-rush grade, after yet another strong game in Kansas City. The former No. 2 overall pick out of Michigan also ranks fourth in the NFL in pass-rush win rate (25.4%) and is on the short list of Defensive Player of the Year favorites through Week 6.
Most Total Pressures: Aidan Hutchinson, Detroit Lions

Anderson has developed from a very good pass rusher to an elite force in his third season with the Houston Texans. He leads the NFL in pass-rush win rate (32.0%), the only player in the league with a clip higher than 30.0%.
Best Rookie Pass Rusher: Abdul Carter, New York Giants
Carter is in a tier of his own when it comes to rookie pass-rushing production through the first six weeks of the season. The No. 3 overall pick in this year’s draft leads all rookies with at least 50 pass-rushing snaps in PFF pass-rush grade (79.3), total pressures (24) and win rate (14.2%).
