Despite losing their last two games, the Philadelphia Eagles are favored to win in Week 7.
The Birds are currently 1.5-point road favorites in Sunday’s matchup against the Minnesota Vikings, according to FanDuel.
That line is actually down from the 2.5 points the Eagles were favored by earlier this week.
It’s been an uneven season for the Vikes, who have alternated between wins and losses to get to 3-2:
Week 1 win at Chicago — Vikings 27, Bears 24
Week 2 loss vs. Atlanta — Vikings 6, Falcons 22
Week 3 win vs. Cincinnati — Vikings 48, Bengals 10
Week 4 loss vs. Pittsburgh (in Dublin) — Vikings 21, Steelers 24
Week 5 win vs. Cleveland (in London) — Vikings 21, Browns 17
Minnesota entered the 2025 season with uncertain expectations after turning the page from Sam Darnold, who played well in a surprisingly resurgent year, to unproven 2024 first-round pick J.J. McCarthy. McCarthy showed some promise in a comeback effort in Week 1 before struggling and getting hurt (again) in Week 2.
Since then, old friend Carson Wentz has been under center for the Vikings. It’s possible, though not yet perfectly clear, that the No. 2 overall pick from the 2016 NFL Draft pick will start against the Eagles … in the building the Birds won Super Bowl LII, no less.
Regardless of which quarterback the Vikings go with, the Eagles defense faces a major challenge with Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison on deck. If Quinyon Mitchell can’t suit up after suffering a hamstring injury against the New York Giants, the Eagles could be starting Adoree’ Jackson and Kelee Ringo against one of the NFL’s best wide receiver duos. Yikes.
The Eagles’ underperforming offense has been searching for solutions all season long. Now they’ll go up against an aggressive defensive coordinator in Brian Flores. Jalen Hurts previously beat a Flores-led defense in Week 2 of the 2023 season. But we’ll believe it when we actually see this Eagles offense avoid going through an ice cold stretch for a prolonged portion of the game.
Despite their winning record, it’s hard to feel great about the Eagles right now. They’ve been outgained in every game, they have a negative point differential, and they rank 15th in DVOA. They’re mediocre.
Then again, the Vikings might not be much better. And you can’t rule out Wentz helping the Eagles by turning the ball over multiple times.
I’m thinking we see a close game decided by a field goal.
What say you?
