The Los Angeles Rams may not be in first place, but they have the second-best odds of any team in the NFC to make the playoffs. According to NFL.com, L.A. has 81% odds to reach the postseason, bested only by the 5-1 Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Despite only currently being in the NFC’s 7th seed, the Rams have the second-best odds to reach the NFC playoffs already.
The Rams have only lost to the Eagles and 49ers, the current first place team in the NFC West with a 3-0 record against the division, but those are the only two conference games that they have played so far.
The Rams won’t get their next chance to win a conference game until Week 9 against the New Orleans Saints. They couldn’t even get over .500 in the NFC until Week 11 against the Seattle Seahawks, at the earliest.
L.A. is 4-0 against the AFC with their fifth and final AFC game coming next Sunday morning in London against the Jaguars.
As things currently stand, the NFC West has three teams in the playoff picture between the 49ers, Rams, and Seahawks, who are the fifth seed in the early going. The Rams have a challenging schedule ahead.
After playing the 4-2 Jaguars, the Rams still have games left against the 49ers, Seahawks (twice), Bucs, Lions, and Falcons. That’s seven games left against teams that have winning records. They also play the 3-3 Panthers and have both games left against the Cardinals, in addition to playing the Saints.
The Falcons have the best odds of any team in the NFC not currently in the playoff picture with a 49% chance to reach the postseason. The Rams hope that Altanta falters instead because they hold the Falcons first pick in 2026.
Do you think that the Rams’ 81% odds are fair and do you expect them to reach the playoffs? Should these odds factor in the probable absence of Puka Nacua for a couple of weeks?
