Minnesota Vikings Odds: Vikings Open as Home Underdog Against Eagles

After a couple of weeks overseas followed by a bye week, the Minnesota Vikings make their return to U.S. Bank Stadium on Sunday afternoon to face the defending Super Bowl champions, the Philadelphia Eagles. Things have been a bit rocky for the Eagles over the past couple of weeks, but that doesn’t appear to have deterred the folks who make the betting lines for this week’s games.

According to the folks at the FanDuel Sportsbook, the Vikings have opened up this week as 2.5-point underdogs against the Eagles. The over/under for this one is currently resting at 43.5 points.

Minnesota had an up-and-down trip to Europe, to say the least. They fell to the Pittsburgh Steelers in the NFL’s first game in Dublin, Ireland by a score of 24-21. It looks like they were heading for a second straight loss when they traveled to London, but Carson Wentz’s touchdown pass to Jordan Addison with less than 30 seconds remaining secured a 21-17 victory for the Vikings, allowing them to go into their bye week with a 3-2 record.

The Eagles got off to a 4-0 start to their 2025 season, but the past couple of weeks have seen things take a significant turn. They blew a 14-point fourth-quarter lead at home against the Denver Broncos in Week 5, turning a 17-3 lead into a 21-17 loss. Then, they turned around and faced the New York Giants on Thursday Night Football, and got trounced to the tune of 34-17. That was the first game the Eagles had played this season that was not a one-score game.

Philadelphia still gives the Vikings a lot to worry about on offense, given that they have the reigning NFL Offensive Player of the Year in the backfield in Saquon Barkley, and Jalen Hurts is the sort of mobile quarterback who has given the Vikings issues in the past. However, the Eagles’ passing game hasn’t clicked quite the way they’d like it to, which has presented them some problems.

The Vikings, on the other hand, appear to be weighing whether to start J.J. McCarthy or Carson Wentz at quarterback in this one. Both of them are dealing with injuries. McCarthy is still battling the high ankle sprain he suffered in Week 2, while Wentz sustained an injury to his non-throwing shoulder in the win over Cleveland.

This one should be an interesting game, with the Vikings looking to build some momentum to start what might be the league’s toughest remaining schedule, while the Eagles will be looking to avoid a third consecutive loss.

Do you think the Vikings should be the underdogs in this one, folks? Let us know in the comments!
