With the bye week firmly in the rear-view mirror, it’s time for the Minnesota Vikings to get back to work. They’ll have a tall task ahead of them coming out of their off week, as they’ll host the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday afternoon at U.S. Bank Stadium.
The Vikings are coming off of a road trip that saw them serve as the road team for consecutive overseas games in different cities, a first in the history of the NFL. They dropped the first game of that trip to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Dublin, Ireland, by a score of 24-21. They bounced back in London against the Cleveland Browns, as Carson Wentz found Jordan Addison with less than 30 seconds left on the clock to secure a 21-17 victory and head into the bye with a 3-2 mark.
After getting off to a 4-0 start in defense of their Super Bowl title, the Eagles have suffered back-to-back tough losses. They fell at home to the Denver Broncos in Week 5, a game that they led by 14 points heading into the fourth quarter, and then got blown out by their division rivals, the New York Giants, on Thursday Night Football on a short week.
With what might be the toughest remaining schedule in the NFL, the Vikings are going to need to build on the momentum of their win over Cleveland to try to establish themselves as a playoff threat, as well as a potential division winner in what, once again, might be the best division in the NFL.
Kickoff for this one is slated for noon on Sunday. . .just the second noon Central kickoff for the Vikings this season. . .and will be covered by the FOX family of networks.
