Here’s all you have to know about how Jaxson Dart has gotten off the deck— and just in time for the Eagles— in the wake of his first loss.

Round 3, No. 65: DT Darius Alexander. Alexander played 40.9 percent of the Giants defensive snaps on Sunday in New Orleans, which is the most participation he’s had early in his career. The reason for the uptick in play time? He’s looked a little better with each passing week. On Sunday, Alexander took over for Dexter Lawrence, who spent the week leading into the game dealing with an injury, in third-down packages. On one snap, he collapsed the pocket, forcing Saints QB Spencer Rattler to throw an interception. While that play was negated by a Deonte Banks penalty, Alexander made his presence felt. The Giants are going to need more of that going forward.

Q: On the younger side, Darius Alexander has seen his snaps increase on the defensive line since he was inactive for the opener. What have you seen from him?

Daboll: “He’s making progress. I’ve seen him getting better and better each week the more he plays. For young players, you see it once, maybe it gets you. Then the next time you see it, you’ve got a better understanding of it. I think he’s playing faster, stronger. He’s got good length. He’s continuing to improve. I’d say all of those four young players that have played quite bit – D.A. and Abdul [Carter] and Jaxson [Dart] and Cam [Skattebo] – there are going to be growing things that come up, but man, I like all those guys.”

New York Giants: TE Theo Johnson. The sophomore fourth-round pick has tripled his career touchdown total with three in the last two weeks, easing the burden associated with a career-ending injury to Malik Nabers in the Giants’ pass-catching corps. Jaxson Dart is vibing with Johnson.

3. Brian Daboll, New York Giants (Previous ranking: third). His job status is a fascinating case study in what’s most important to this floundering franchise — wins or the development of a franchise quarterback. The Giants are 1-4 and Daboll’s overall record is a miserable 19-36-1. Based on that record and his team’s play, there’s no real justification to keep him much longer.

But the organization is invested heavily in rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart, the QB Daboll pushed for in the draft and the one he inserted over veteran Russell Wilson starting in Week 4. His lone chance to keep his job is for Dart to show steady progress and look like a star quarterback in the making by the end of the season. Then maybe Daboll has a case to stay. Of course, losing to the previously winless Saints last week certainly didn’t help him.
