After a disappointing loss against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday during a game in which the Miami Dolphins held a 17-0 lead in the 2nd quarter before collapsing in epic fashion, head coach Mike McDaniel is once again feeling the heat in regards to his job security according to NFL insider, Tony Pauline.

Pauline reported on Tuesday morning that his sources are saying “the end is in sight” for McDaniel in Miami.

McDaniel himself said on Monday that Dolphins’ owner, Stephen Ross, is “really frustrated” with how the season has played out so far. Is that frustration enough to give Miami’s head coach the boot?

The same sources who told me that McDaniel was on very thin ice after their Week 1 loss to the Colts predict that Ross will wait 2-3 more games before deciding whether to pull the trigger on his head coach,” said Pauline.

The Dolphins will host the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday, followed by a visit to Cleveland to play the Browns in Week Seven. They’ll travel to Atlanta to play the Falcons in Week Eight. All three games are winnable contests, however the Dolphins will need to be more consistent in all phases — offense, defense and special teams — if they’re to pick up multiple victories during that three game stretch.

If they can’t? Miami may in turn target a “disciplinarian type of coach with experience in the league,” according to Pauline.

One name that has been speculated as a possibility if Mike McDaniel gets canned is ESPN analyst [and former New York Jets head coach] Rex Ryan.

All eyes are on McDaniel and the Miami Dolphins as they head into a pivotal stretch of games that could very well impact this franchise’s future for many years to come.
