College Football: Week 7 playoff bracket

After a chaotic Week 6, the College Football Playoff bracket has been completely shaken up. Before the games kick off in a massive Week 7, here’s what PFF’s updated bracket would look like based on our top 25 for the week.

Byes

1. Miami (FL) Hurricanes

Miami is back on top following a 28-22 win on the road over No. 18 Florida State this past weekend. Edge defender Rueben Bain Jr. continued to look like the best player in college football with a 90.9 overall PFF grade in the victory with 11 pressures. His 95.9 grade on the season is the best of any player in college football.

2. Ohio State Buckeyes

Ohio State took care of business with a 42-3 win over Minnesota this week. The Buckeyes have now only allowed 25 points all season over five games, the fewest in the country. On the other side, redshirt freshman quarterback Julian Sayin continued to thrive with a 91.7 PFF passing grade. The Buckeyes have their most difficult road test of the season this upcoming week against No. 17 Illinois.

3. Texas A&M Aggies

Texas A&M padded its resume with an impressive 31-9 win over Mississippi State. The Aggies ran all over the Bulldogs to the tune of 304 rushing yards and 3.9 yards before contact per attempt. Texas A&M takes on Florida next, a team that just beat ninth-ranked Texas.

4. Oregon Ducks

Oregon was off this past weekend and has a massive game in Week 7 against seventh-ranked Indiana.

First Round

5. Ole Miss Rebels vs. 12. Memphis Tigers

Ole Miss was off this past weekend and is back in action this week against Washington State.

Memphis remains the Group of Five favorite with a perfect 6-0 record after beating Tulsa 45-7 in Week 6. The Tigers’ defense shined in the win, surrendering only -0.361 EPA per play. Memphis is off in Week 7 before traveling to UAB in Week 8.

6. Alabama Crimson Tide vs. 11. LSU Tigers

Alabama moves up a couple spots following its 30-14 win over No. 16 Vanderbilt. Ty Simpson was phenomenal in the victory, posting a 91.4 PFF passing grade. The Crimson Tide will need their Heisman candidate quarterback to perform like that this week as they go on the road to a top-15 team in Missouri.

LSU enjoyed a bye this week and is back in action against South Carolina on Saturday.

7. Oklahoma Sooners vs. 10. Georgia Bulldogs

Even without star quarterback John Mateer, Oklahoma was still able to shut out Kent State by a 44-0 final score. Edge defender R Mason Thomas showed why he’s a potential Day 2 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft with a 94.3 overall PFF grade in the win. He has a chance for another massive game against a shaky Texas offensive line in the Red River Rivalry.

Georgia responded well to its loss against Alabama with a 35-14 win over Kentucky. The Bulldogs’ defense dominated in the victory, allowing just -0.194 EPA per play. Georgia travels to Auburn next week, a team coming off back-to-back one-score losses to a couple of current top-10 teams in Texas A&M and Oklahoma.

8. Texas Tech Red Raiders vs. 9. Indiana Hoosiers

Texas Tech dominated previously unbeaten Houston this past weekend by a 35-11 final score. The Red Raiders dominated on defense in the win with 80-plus grades in run defense, pass rush and coverage. They now have the highest-graded defense in the country (94.9) this season and face a Kansas offense that’s one of the 15 highest-graded in the country.

Indiana was off this past weekend and faces its toughest test of the season with a road game against third-ranked Oregon.
