Fired Up! What do Rams need to fix this week?

Lost somewhere in the translation of allowing two field goals to be blocked, there has been almost no discussion about how the Rams gave up 26 points in the second half of their loss to the Eagles in Week 3. Of course, we can call the last touchdown allowed on the blocked field goal as a “flukey score” but L.A.’s defense allowed the Eagles offense to score three touchdowns in the second half. That’s a lot of touchdowns.

Those scoring drives:

  • 79 yards in less than 3 minutes
  • 87 yards in a little over 6 minutes
  • 91 yards in 6 minutes (to take the lead)

Jalen Hurts needed a narrative shift so badly this season and he got it in the second half of Philadelphia’s win over the Rams. Hurts three for three touchdowns and rushed for a fourth; he practically threw for half of his entire season’s total of passing yards in the second half of one game.

So do the Rams need to fix their field goal operation? Yes.

Do the Rams need to spread the ball around to more than just to Puka Nacua and Davante Adams? Yes.

Do the Rams need to get better at cornerback? Yes.

Does Sean McVay need to re-evaluate his trust in certain veterans and up the ante on other options? Maybe.

Do the Rams need to make a trade before the deadline? Possibly.

But all of these questions can get answered on Sunday against the Colts and have those narratives shift for Emmanuel Forbes, Beaux Limmer, and Terrance Ferguson just as quickly as the story has changed for Jalen Hurts.

As Rams fans, you know as well as anybody else — better than anyone in the media — what the Rams need to do against the Indianapolis Colts to get back in the win column and improve to 3-1. So what do you think the Rams need to do better against the Colts? Let us know in the comments. I’ll add a few prompts to get you started.
