Miami Dolphins sign two offensive linemen to practice squad

After three weeks, the Miami Dolphins’ offensive line has suffered two critical injuries to the right side, and some of the younger guys (I’m looking at you, Jonah Savaiinaea) have looked less-than-stellar early on. Thankfully, the team is expected to get back starting right tackle Austin Jackson near his Week 6 return date, but nothing is set in stone, according to head coach Mike McDaniel.

There’s also no return in sight for right guard James Daniels. So for now, the right side is being patched with veterans Kion Smith, Larry Borom, and Daniel Brunskill. General Manager Chris Grier may say “he’s not concerned with the offensive line,” but at 0-3 and his seat getting hotter (IMO), it may be time to start turning over every stone in hopes of finding, in Grier’s words, an acorn.

Today, that’s exactly what Miami did, adding two new faces to the practice squad in hopes of finding the next undrafted hero.

According to the Dolphins, the team has signed offensive linemen Roy Mbaeteka and Kadeem Telfort to the practice squad.

Mbaeteka has bounced around the league since joining the New York Giants in 2022 as part of the team’s International Player Pathway Program. In 2023, he spent time on the Chicago Bears practice squad. Mbaeteka also spent time on the practice squads of the Cleveland Browns (2024) and Arizona Cardinals (2025) before landing in Miami.

As for Telfort, the former undrafted rookie out of UAB, entered the league with the Green Bay Packers in 2023. He’d spend the entire year on Green Bay’s practice Squad. However, in 2024, he appeared in 16 games with the Packers, bringing some experience to the table. Telfort is 26, for those keeping tabs at home.

Mike McDaniel and Chris Grier’s tenure in Miami will likely come down to what happens in the coming weeks. How the offensive line plays will certainly factor into that. Will the team need a guy like Mbaeteka or Telfort to step up? I’d like to say “no,” but it wasn’t too long ago that the team went through thirteen different variations on the offensive line. And with Daniels’ return uncertain and plenty of ball left to be played, Grier may need one of these guys to step up.

What are your thoughts on the current state of the Miami Dolphins’ offensive line? How confident are you in Butch Barry’s unit? Do you think one of these guys will appear in a game by the end of the 2025 season? Let us know in the comments section below!
