The New York Giants will stay home in Week 4 still searching for their first victory of the season. Oddsmakers don’t expect it to come Sunday — the Giants are listed as 5.5-point underdogs against the Los Angeles Chargers, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
The Chargers (3-0) come in hot after sweeping through the AFC West to open the season, while the Giants (0-3) continue to battle the same early-season hole that has plagued them in recent years.
Where things stand
The Giants’ offense sputtered in Sunday night’s 22-9 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. Russell Wilson threw for just 160 yards, and New York finished 1 of 3 in the red zone. Rookie Jaxson Dart saw limited action in a special package, and Cam Skattebo provided the team’s lone touchdown on the ground.
The Chargers, meanwhile, are rolling. Justin Herbert has thrown for 898 yards and eight touchdowns through three weeks, with Ladd McConkey, Keenan Allen and Quentin Johnston leading a balanced passing attack. Defensively, Los Angeles has forced five turnovers in its last two games, including two in last week’s win over Denver.
What it means for the Giants
A loss would drop New York to 0-4 for the first time since 2017, digging a hole that’s historically nearly impossible to climb out of for playoff hopes. Brian Daboll and the coaching staff are searching for answers, especially on offense, where Wilson has yet to find consistent success, so don’t be surprised to see more of Dart in Week 4.
