We have the results of this week’s SB Nation Reacts poll about our Minnesota Vikings, so let’s go ahead and talk about them, shall we?
Our first question this week is our usual question of whether or not you believe our favorite team is going in the right direction. Following the team’s first loss, a loss that came in fairly disastrous fashion, the number has seen quite the significant drop.
After a couple of weeks of this team being above 90%, we have seen the number plunge all the way down to 43% after the Vikings’ loss to Atlanta on Sunday night. Again, that’s quite the drop. Honestly, I think it’s way too early to be hitting the panic button, but this team definitely needs to get something figured out quickly if they want to get back on the right track. Hopefully that will start this weekend against a Cincinnati defense that has not offered a lot in the way of resistance to opposing offenses through its first two games.
Our other question has to do with the injury to quarterback J.J. McCarthy and his subsequent replacement as the team’s starting quarterback on, at the very least, a temporary basis. We wanted to see how conspiracy-minded the fans are, and it seems like common sense is prevailing instead.
Of those who responded, 48% believe that the injury to McCarthy is a legitimate one and that it’s the cause of him being replaced as the Vikings’ starter for Week 3. An additional 42% believe it’s a combination of both injury and performance, while just 10% believe that it’s purely a performance-based decision to replace McCarthy with Carson Wentz two games into the season.
Again, I think if the team says McCarthy is injured, he’s injured. Yes, he’s struggled mightily through the first two games of the season, but those struggles have been exacerbated by some pretty iffy play calling and an offensive line that hasn’t done him a whole lot of favors through the first eight quarters of this regular season. Hopefully when he returns. . .and he will, at some point. . .those things will change and he’ll look significantly better.
Those are our SB Nation Reacts results for this week, ladies and gentlemen. Thank you to everyone who took the time to participate in our survey, and we’ll have more for you here next week.
