College football: Draft prospects for the Giants in Week 4

Good morning, New York Giants fans! Happy Saturday and welcome to Week 4 of the 2025 college football season.

We have a few games between ranked opponents this week, though they might not be who you think, thanks to the chaos that’s reigned over college football so far this year. Georgia Tech is a Top-20 team after their last-second upset of Clemson, while Illinois is a Top 10 team.

We’re getting an early look at some prospects who would normally be under the radar thanks to many of the usual powerhouses sliding down the rankings.

So without further ado, let’s get to the games!

(16) Utah vs. (17) Texas Tech

Fox – noon

We’ve brought up the Utah tackles a few times as potential targets for the Giants. Marcus Mbow’s performance against the Dallas Cowboys could be our first hint that tackle isn’t a long-term issue for the Giants, particularly if Andrew Thomas can return to form.

That said, we don’t know what the future holds, so watching both Spencer Fano and Caleb Lomu makes sense. Both could be first round talents once all is said and done, and both have versatile skillsets that could make them valuable players. The Utah tackles will have their work cut out for them against the Texas Tech pass rushing duo of David Bailey and Romello Height. They have 4 sacks, 7 QB hits, and 19 hurries between them over the first three games of the season.

Players to watch

(16) Utah

  • Spencer Fano (OT – 55)
  • Caleb Lomu (OT – 71)
  • Jaren Cump (OC – 68)
  • Lander Barton (LB – 8)
  • Smith Snowden (CB – 2)
  • Tao Johnson (S – 5)

(17) Texas Tech

  • Davion Carter (OG – 65)
  • Sheridan Williams (OC – 72)
  • David Bailey (EDGE – 31)
  • Romello Height (EDGE – 9)

(11) Oklahoma vs. (22) Auburn

ABC – 3:30 p.m.

The NFL will likely be most interested in Oklahoma QB John Mateer, who’s been rising up draft boards through the early season. Watching Mateer is… An experience. He plays the game as some sort of football Chimera made out of Cam Ward, Baker Mayfield, and Philip Rivers. Suffice it to say, his style of hyper-competitive scrambling combined with a wildly unorthodox throwing motion shouldn’t work. Yet it does, and very well so far.

But the Giants (hopefully) have their quarterback of the future, so fans will want to pay attention LB/EDGE R. Mason Thomas, who could be a solid value on the second day of the draft. The Giants are very well stocked at EDGE, but we never know how the board will fall. Linebacker Sammy Omosigho could be of interest as well. He’s slightly undersized, but has played very well so far this year.

On the Auburn side of things, center Connor Lew could be on the Giants’ radar if they decide to move off of John Michael Schmitz.

Players to watch

(11) Oklahoma

  • QB John Mateer (QB – 10)
  • Jaydn Ott (RB – 0)
  • Deion Burks (WR – 4)
  • R. Mason Thomas (EDGE – 32)
  • Sammy Omosigho (LB – 7)
  • Robert Spears-Jennings (S – 3)

(22) Auburn

  • Connor Lew (OC – 75)
  • Xavier Chaplin (OT – 65)
  • Jeremiah Wright (OG – 77)
  • Eric Singleton Jr. (WR – 1) *Questionable as of this writing
  • Keldric Faulk (EDGE – 15)
  • Raion Strader (CB – 13)

Baylor vs. Arizona State

Fox – 7:30 p.m.

Depending on how the rest of the season unfolds, the Giants could find themselves looking for another wide receiver to add firepower to their offense. If so, they have to be paying attention to Arizona State wideout Jordyn Tyson. Tyson could be the top receiver in this draft class, though it doesn’t appear to be a particularly strong class at this time.

Sundevils’ cornerback Keith Abney II could draw the Giants’ eye as well, at least if the team decides to move on from Deonte Banks. Abney has solid (if not spectacular) size at 6-foot, 190 pounds, but he’s been one of the best cover corners in both man and zone coverage the nation through three games.

Players to watch

Baylor

  • Sawyer Robertson (QB – 13)
  • Bryson Washington (RB – 7)
  • Michael Trigg (TE – 1)
  • Kobe Prentice (WR – 16)

Arizona State

  • Sam Leavitt (QB – 10)
  • Max Iheanachor (OT – 58)
  • Jordyn Tyson (WR – 0)
  • C.J. Fite (iDL – 99)
  • Keith Abney II (CB – 1)
