The Philadelphia Eagles had an open roster spot to fill after placing rookie offensive tackle Cameron Williams on injured reserve late last week.
The Eagles filled that opening by … re-signing Kenyon Green.
This much according to an official team announcement made on Wednesday afternoon.
Here’s a recap of the transactions Green has been involved in after the Eagles originally traded for him back in March:
August 25 — Waived
August 27 — Signed to the practice squad
August 31 — Signed to the roster
September 6 — Waived
Green is bound to be a healthy scratch behind the Eagles’ eight active offensive linemen on game day. The five starters (Jordan Mailata, Landon Dickerson, Cam Jurgens, Tyler Steen, Lane Johnson) and the top three backups (Fred Johnson, Brett Toth, Matt Pryor) are already set. Green joins Drew Kendall as the only two blockers who won’t dress for games, barring injury issues.
The Eagles apparently aren’t ready to totally give up on Green’s potential. But he’s a prime contender to be waived again if the team needs to open up a roster spot. Which they might since Marcus Epps has just one practice squad elevation remaining and it seems like Cameron Latu could earn a role on the roster.
