Everything is better the week after a Detroit Lions win. The air seems more refreshing, the doom and gloom talk takes a few days off, and we’re also treated to a ton of awesome Lions content we don’t get after a loss. You’ve got the Dan Campbell victory speeches in the locker room, fantastic mic’d up moments, and, my personal favorite, the best radio calls from Dan Miller and the entire Detroit Lions Radio Network team.
On Monday night, the Lions dropped the first “Calls of the Game” for the 2025 Lions season, and it did not disappoint. Enjoy it below:
With seven touchdowns scored by the Lions in their 52-21 romp of the Chicago Bears, there is no shortage of highlights and fantastic calls from Miller in this five-minute video. But here’s a recap of my favorite moments anyway.
- First off, I want to acknowledge just how well Miller sees the game. I found it very impressive that he immediately knew it was Brian Branch who came in and forced the fumble. He also had a feeling the Bears were short on the fourth-and-inches QB sneak. That may seem inconsequential, but those things are truly not easy to do without the benefit of ideal camera angles and replays. While Miller has a spotter to help him with these sorts of things, he was able to do a lot of this on his own. That requires a keen eye.
- The entire booth turning to Miller after Brock Wright scored a touchdown was fantastic, as they all anticipated his iconic “Brock. Wright.” call that dates back to Wright’s game-winning score in the Lions vs. Jets game back in 2022.
- “Does he make a one-handed catch? Oh, don’t tell me he did that. Oh, rookie, you are something else.”
- “Amon-Ra St. Brown. One, two, three times today!”
