The Cincinnati Bengals may have started their 2025 season with a 2-0 record for the first time since before either Zac Taylor or Joe Burrow were on the team, but in doing so, they’ve lost their franchise quarterback for the bulk of the season, turning the keys over, once again, to backup Jake Browning.
It could be worse, of course. The Bengals could have a bum as their backup quarterback. That’s definitely not the case. Rich Eisen even said he thinks Browning is a better quarterback than a third of the starters across the league. He may be right, but he’s still not Burrow.
Browning being the team’s starting quarterback may have something to do with Vegas picking against them in Week 3. According to FanDuel’s Sportsbook, the Bengals will be 3-point underdogs on the road as they travel to Minneapolis to face the Vikings, who are also likely to start their backup quarterback, Carson Wentz. The over/under for this game is 42.5 points.
The Vikings, led by J.J. McCarthy, narrowly defeated the Bears in Chicago in Week 1, but they were beaten badly by the Vikings in their home opener in Week 2. It’s close, but Vegas odds makers seem to give the edge to Wentz in Week 2.
