Many expected the Detroit Lions to right the ship this weekend after a brutal loss to the Green Bay Packers last Sunday, and they did quite a bit more than that.
Detroit delivered an absolute beatdown to the Chicago Bears at Sunday’s home opener to the tune of 52-21.
Naturally, Lions fans are celebrating while national writers and analysts are changing their tunes. Here are some of the best reactions I found across social media:

The NFL is the great equalizer.
A week after the Lions lost and their ex coordinators were hailed as the main reasons why, the Lions respond w/ a win in which they score 50 and Johnson and Glenn lose by a combined score of 82-31.
Everyone (🙋) has to respect today’s response.

So this week, will we be discussing whether Ben Johnson will be able to succeed without Jared Goff? Or does that premature narrative only work one way?

Jared Goff is looking like Oprah today:
“You get a touchdown, you get a touchdown, you get a touchdown, and YOU get a touchdown!”

Dan Skipper on the sideline pumping up the team. What a quality human being. He’s such a big part of the heart & soul of this team. 🩵

That Detroit drive is the most the Lions have looked like the Lions this year, particularly on the runs off tackle.

Imagine thinking Ben Johnson was the reason why the Lions offense was so good
— Marty Mush (@martymush) September 14, 2025
Well, I guess Detroit’s offense doesn’t suck!

Jared Goff now has five NFL starts in which his team scored at least 50 points, tied with Peyton Manning (five) for the fourth-most such starts by a quarterback since 1950, and trailing only Tom Brady (eight starts), Drew Brees (six) and Len Dawson (six).

And onto the rest of your notes.
- Apparently Kerby Joseph was the mastermind behind the “Stumblebum” celly.
