The official snap counts from the Philadelphia Eagles’ Week 2 win over the Kansas City Chiefs are in! Let’s take a look and run through some analysis.

OFFENSE

Eagles-Chiefs snap counts: Za’Darius Smith looks good in debut

  • Good to see Landon Dickerson was able to make it through the entire game.
  • A.J. Brown only missed two snaps. He led the Eagles in targets with eight … but only had five receptions for 27 yards.
  • Grant Calcaterra was clearly the top tight end with Dallas Goedert injured. He saw just two targets and didn’t have a catch until the Eagles’ penultimate drive.
  • Saquon Barkley logged 24 of the Eagles’ 27 running back touches.
  • DeVonta Smith saw a smaller workload than usual. He was in pain after landing on his back at one point. Despite this, he led the Eagles in receiving with 53 yards on four receptions. His six targets ranked second-most only behind Brown.
  • Kylen Granson saw a sizeable workload at TE2. For some reason, the Eagles are loving these heavy packages instead of utilizing more 11 personnel. Granson caught his sole target for a first down and he also logged three special teams tackles.
  • Jahan Dotson had a small role as WR3. His sole target resulted in a four-yard catch. Dotson had played 46% of the Eagles’ snaps in Week 1.
  • For the second week in a row, Darius Cooper played more offensive snaps than John Metchie. The undrafted rookie has yet to be targeted but he’s being called on to block.
  • A.J. Dillon was RB2 with Will Shipley injured. But he saw a smaller workload than Shipley would probably get if healthy.
  • Cameron Latu mostly played on special teams but he did take at least one fullback snap.
  • Cooper DeJean was lined up deep on the Eagles’ end of game kneel downs.
  • The Eagles used Fred Johnson as a sixth offensive lineman on the first play of Philly’s final drive where Barkley picked up nine yards. Could be good to keep using an extra offensive lineman to help block instead of tight ends who aren’t as good at doing it.

DEFENSE

  • Jalen Carter was battling through a wrist (?) injury but didn’t seem to miss much, if any, time because of it.
  • Andrew Mukuba continued to be the safety in nickel with Sydney Brown playing in base.
  • Adoree’ Jackson missed some time while getting checked for a hand/wrist injury. He came back in.
  • With Carter back, Moro Ojomo went from playing 90% of the Eagles’ defensive snaps to 70%. More ideal role for him.
  • Speaking of ideal roles, Jordan Davis went down to 32 snaps played after playing 53 in Week 1. His snap count percentage dropped from 87% to 53%. Part of that was some missed time due to cramping.
  • Newcomer Za’Darius Smith overtook Joshua Uche for the third edge rusher role. But Uche’s snap count percentage only dropped by 4% from Week 1. Za’Darius benefited from Nolan Smith and Jalyx Hunt also seeing a slightly decreased snap count percentage. The veteran edge rusher played pretty well in his Eagles debut with four tackles (two solo), half a sack, and one TFL. Vic Fangio’s mainly using a four-deep rotation with Patrick Johnson seeing some sparing snaps as the fifth option.
  • Jakorian Bennett saw some limited snaps when Jackson missed time.

SPECIAL TEAMS

  • Marcus Epps has one temporary practice squad elevation left for the rest of the 2025 regular season. We’ll see if the Eagles sign him to the roster; they still have an open spot after putting Cameron Williams on injured reserve.
  • Tank Bigsby lined up as a kick returner but the Chiefs didn’t kick to him. The newcomer didn’t play on offense but his role figures to expand more as he learns the system.
  • Not listed in this graphic: Ty Robinson played four special teams snaps (17%). The rookie defensive tackle was a healthy scratch in Week 1.

DID NOT PLAY

INACTIVE: Dallas Goedert, Will Shipley, Tanner McKee, Drew Kendall, Azeez Ojulari, Ogbo Okoronkwo

ACTIVE: Sam Howell, Mac McWilliams

  • Goedert’s injury reportedly isn’t super serious, so, maybe he returns in Week 3? We’ll see.
  • Shipley also avoided IR. He could be back within a week or two or three.
  • McKee was designated as the emergency third quarterback for this game, meaning he would’ve played if both Jalen Hurts and Howell got knocked out. Seems like he’s trending to be QB2 in Week 3.
  • Kendall, Ojulari, and Okoronkwo were healthy scratches. The Eagles carrying seven edge rushers is a curious decision.
  • McWilliams suited up but didn’t even manage to log a special teams snap.
