After James Hudson’s meltdown, what should the Giants do?

In an ideal world, Andrew Thomas will be all healed up from his Lisfranc boo-boo and will be stationed at left tackle when the New York Giants face the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday night at MetLife Stadium.

If he isn’t, and to this point Thomas is still not practicing on a day-in, day-out basis following surgery for his 2024 midseason Lisfrance injury, what do the Giants do at left tackle?

After James Hudson’s epic meltdown on the opening drive Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys — a sack allowed, four penalties, including two 15-yarders, and a sideline rant — the Giants replaced him with rookie fifth-round pick Marcus Mbow.

A natural right tackle, Mbow held his own in 51 snaps. It wasn’t great, as indicated by his middling 59.3 Pro Football Focus grade. But, it wasn’t terrible. Mbow gave up two pressures and no sacks in 37 pass-blocking snaps and had a run-blocking score of 63.2, which is acceptable.

Do the Giants bench Hudson and leave him inactive in Week 3, whether Thomas plays or not? Give him another chance? Cut him?

The Giants would take a $3.7 million cap hit if they cut him. That seems unlikely. I can’t imagine, though, that Hudson starts another game any time soon.

Vote in the poll and tell us what you would do. And, yes, I think I know in advance how this is going to turn out.

What should the Giants do about James Hudson?
