The Los Angeles Rams (1-0) travel to take on the Tennessee Titans (0-1) for an early-window game on Sunday. The Rams are coming off a close, but meaningful win over the Houston Texans, while the Titans are coming off a semi-to be expected loss against the Denver Broncos.
Going into this season, there was a lot of hype for the Broncos, and the Titans kept it close, so credit them, though in the end, their team came up short. The consensus is that the Titans aren’t trying to win it all now, it’s that Cam Ward will get better, and he may be the type of QB that can take a game (or the league) over, so if anyone thinks the Rams can just show-up Sunday and win, that’s not how it works in the NFL.
Case in point, last season the Rams took on the Chicago Bears with number one overall pick Caleb Williams, and despite how dreadful the Bears were last year, they beat the Rams. So, this is the second year in a row that the Rams are taking on the number one overall pick from the most recent draft, will the outcome be different this time?
Unlike the Titans, and with all due respect, the Rams are trying to win it all now. Are they positioned to do so? With the Rams coming up short against the Philadelphia Eagles in the playoffs last year, yes, the Rams think they can make a real run now, however games like this will be a good test for the Rams because by most accounts, this is a game the Rams should win, and what do the best team in the NFL do? They win the games they should win.
Winning factor(s):
The Titans may have their quarterback of the future and that makes them dangerous week in and week out, however the Rams have the horses to make a deep run now, and they should have the depth and starting talent to put this game away.
Final Score:
Rams 27, Titans 17. Not a straight blow-out, but L.A. should have control of this game, and if they do somehow lose, there will be plenty of questions before they face the Eagles in Week 3.
