When the Philadelphia Eagles traded Bryce Huff to the San Francisco 49ers, it was reported that the Birds received a “2026 conditional fifth-round pick that can turn into a fourth-round pick [with] conditions tied to Huff’s performance.”
After three months, we finally have details on the conditions.
This comes from BGN alumnus Jimmy Kempski:
Per a source, the fifth-round pick will become a fourth-round pick if Huff has eight sacks in 2025. There are no other conditions, such as snap counts, like there were in the Eagles’ trade of Haason Reddick to the New York Jets last year.
In the aftermath of Monday night’s Tank Bigsby trade, ESPN was first to make mention of this fifth-round pick turning into a fourth-round pick with Huff having eight sacks. But it was incorrectly reported that the Eagles were including that potential fourth-round selection in the deal.
Kempski is confirming that the Eagles will NOT send a fourth-round pick to the Jaguars. But it’s unclear if the 2026 fifth-round pick the Eagles are sending to the Jaguars (along with 2026 sixth-round pick) is the 49ers’ selection. That may or may not be the case.
The guess (emphasis on guess) here is that the Eagles will send the 49ers’ fifth-round pick to the Jags if Huff has fewer than eight sacks. If Huff logs eight or more sacks, the Eagles might send a different fifth-round pick (since they have multiple) to the Jags and retain the 49ers’ 2026 fourth-round pick.
Huff is not exactly off to a hot start in San Francisco, so, I wouldn’t count on the Eagles receiving the elevated pick.
