When Micah McFadden was carted off the field with his right leg in a cast early in the New York Giants’ loss to the Washington Commanders on Sunday, it looked as if his season might be over before it really began.
X-rays on the leg/foot injury McFadden suffered have been reported to be negative, and McFadden was spotted on the sideline later in the game with his right foot in a boot.
That is, obviously, potentially good news as the fourth-year linebacker has emerged as a defensive mainstay.
Here is the play on which McFadden was injured:

McFadden was replaced in the lineup by Darius Muasau. The Commanders targeted Muasau on a 7-yard touchdown pass to Zach Ertz shortly after McFadden was carted off the field.
The Giants’ defense gave up 432 total yards on Sunday, 220 of that on the ground. McFadden’s return to the lineup, whenever it happens, will be welcomed.
This is also a contract year for McFadden, who is in the final year of his rookie deal.
