It’s the morning after yet another woeful opening week for the New York Giants.
The good vibes that accompanied a dominant preseason disappeared in a puff of smoke as the Giants’ offense once again looked utterly inept on their way to a 21-6 loss to the Washington Commanders. The news of the day is all about digesting the loss as the team tries to turn the page to the Dallas Cowboys.

New season, new QB, same old ineptitude: Giants flop in Russell Wilson’s uninspiring debut | The Athletic
“It’s a new season, but it does hurt,” Daboll said. “You got a good camp, felt good about coming into this game against a really good football team, and it does hurt. We got to pick up, move on, learn from it and obviously not good enough.”
It’s a mistake to overreact to Week 1 results in the notoriously fickle NFL, but it’s hard not to feel like Sunday was more of a continuation of last season than a fresh start.

Commanders defense dominates as Washington rolls past Giants: Key takeaways|The Athletic
Washington’s defense smothered Russell Wilson and the New York Giants offense, and Jayden Daniels was efficient, if unspectacular, in throwing for 233 yards and a touchdown as the Commanders began their season with a 21-6 victory at home on Sunday.
Dart to be Giants’ QB1 soon?|ESPN
Giants coach Brian Daboll doesn’t want to be pressured into starting Dart, his first-round rookie quarterback, before he’s ready. Daboll doesn’t want Dart to feel that pressure, either. But when asked after the game whether Wilson would start next week in Dallas, Daboll wasn’t definitive.
“It was one game, not gonna let that turn into two”
