New York Giants linebacker Micah McFadden left the field with an apparent leg injury in the first quarter of Sunday’s game against the Washington Commanders.
McFadden was taken off the field on the cart after getting his right leg caught awkwardly while tackling Washington Commanders running back Austin Ekeler.
McFadden emerged in 2024 as a good starting WILL linebacker and had a strong summer. He was active before getting injured, racking up 3 tackles on the Commanders’ first two drives. McFadden’s injury brought second year linebacker Darius Muasau onto the field with the Commanders in the red zone. We’ll see how the Giants adjust over the course of the game, which could mean Abdul Carter takes the field as more of a full-time linebacker. He was initially replaced by Darius Muasau.
The injury also puts more pressure on Bobby Okereke to defend the middle of the field as an off-ball linebacker.
We’ll update with more information as we get it, though McFadden left the field with his leg in an air cast, suggesting that it is a significant injury.
