Rams fans are confident that the team is headed in the right direction leading into L.A.’s Week 1 matchup against the Houston Texans. In this week’s SB Nation Reacts poll, 95% of you voted that yes, you are confident that the Rams are headed in the right direction.
It is usual for fans to be confident in any team when their record is 0-0, so to what degree will fans maintain that confidence if the Rams lose to the Texans in Week 1, even if it’s just unlucky? There’s not much room to go up but plenty of room to look down.
The Rams have been surprising fans consistently since they won the Super Bowl in 2021.
- The 2022 Rams were much worse than expected
- The 2023 Rams were much better than expected
- The 2024 Rams were probably about as good as expected
Many have pegged L.A. as top-3 favorites in the NFC because no other team gave the Eagles a run for their money in last year’s playoffs. On the other hand, doubts about Matthew Stafford’s ability to stay healthy over the course of a long season have lingered into the weekend and probably won’t go away any time soon.
It seems clear that the Rams are one of the best teams in the NFC and not just because of Stafford and Sean McVay. L.A.’s defense is young and the defensive line could be the best all-around unit in the league in terms of quality depth, top-to-bottom. This poll reflects that confidence and now the Rams have to prove the fans right.
