They used to say the Detroit Lions and the Super Bowl are two things that don’t belong in the same sentence. But after the last 2.5 yards under coach Dan Campbell, it is no longer ridiculous to think that this could be the Lions’ year. They were on the precipice in 2023, and last year’s team—with better luck—could have certainly made a championship run.
In our final 2025 NFL season predictions, our staff made their picks for the Super Bowl 60 matchups and eventual winner. If you missed any of the previous installments, check them out below.
Previous season predictions:
Who will be the 2025 Super Bowl winner?
Erik Schlitt: Lions over Bills
A dream matchup for the NFL. Injuries robbed us of this exciting matchup last season, and despite the outcome of the previous game, I still believe this would be an incredibly fun Super Bowl—and one I think the Lions could win. Let’s dream big.
Ryan Mathews: Lions over Ravens
Lions win, 27-20.
Morgan Cannon: Lions over Ravens
I almost went with the Bills here, but a Baltimore-Detroit Super Bowl sounds just right. And yes, I am going with the Lions as the winners of Super Bowl 60, where they will hopefully erase whatever memories linger from the 2023 NFC Championship game in Santa Clara, California. The city yearns for a Honolulu blue parade on a frigid February day, and I believe this is the season the Lions make it happen.
Al Karsten: Lions over Bills
Buffalo Bills 27 – Detroit Lions 38
The Lions executed situational football flawlessly, keeping Jared Goff upright, playing mistake-free, and holding Josh Allen’s flamethrower at arm’s length, maintaining a two-possession lead for much of the game. Bills right tackle Spencer Brown and Aidan Hutchinson waged a herculean battle, with Hutchinson applying just enough pressure to rattle Allen at key moments. Two crucial forced fumbles—from Amik Robertson on slot receiver Khalil Shakir and Brian Branch on Allen—prevented Buffalo from fully flooring it. Terrion Arnold and D.J. Reed locked down the perimeter passing game, while the defensive front contained James Cook early and often. Every Lions playmaker made a memorable splash play, but Amon-Ra St. Brown stole the show, setting the field ablaze to earn Super Bowl LX MVP honors as Penei Sewell hoisted him onto his shoulders at the midfield postgame stage. Get your wagers in early, as Glacier Freeze cascaded off Dan Campbell’s boulder shoulders in glee. See you on Woodward for the parade.
Brandon Knapp: Lions over Ravens
I will predict this team winning the Super Bowl until I see a step back season from them. Could you argue last year was with how it ended? Sure, but they improved record-wise, and did so with a banged-up team. With most of the players already back from injuries, and more coming in the next two to three months, it’s going to help them out greatly. The Ravens are always a playoff team, and I think the Chiefs will take a step back this year, leaving it to be between the Bills and Ravens. The Lions might lose to the Ravens in Week 3, but I think the rematch in the Super Bowl would go differently.
John Whiticar: Chiefs over Rams
The Chiefs will forever be top challengers with Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid. This might be the last hurrah with Travis Kelce, but the team is just as good as last year. The Rams, meanwhile, are a sneaky good team if Matthew Stafford is healthy. Davante Adams gets his best quarterback since prime Aaron Rodgers, and the defense is quietly elite. I think the Chiefs would walk out on top.
Jeremy Reisman: Lions over Broncos
Okay, this may be more wishful thinking than analytical deduction. But what better way for Dan Campbell to bring the Lombardi to Detroit than to beat out his long-time mentor, Sean Payton? And while the Broncos are a long shot to win the Super Bowl (+2700, 13th), it’s worth noting they finished sixth in DVOA last year thanks to a suffocating defense. If Bo Nix takes a Year 2 jump… who knows?
Max Gerber: Ravens over Commanders
Wouldn’t it be funny if Dan Campbell’s protégés succeeded and the Bears and Jets made it to the Super Bowl? Thank god that’s not my prediction here. I believe the Ravens and Commanders will make it to the big game, with Baltimore emerging victorious.
