Dallas Cowboys at Philadelphia Eagles, 8:20 p.m. Thursday

The Line: Eagles minus-7.5/Total: 47.5

What is the line telling you:

The line has reached as high as Eagles minus-8 and minus-9 offshore. The total originally opened at 46, and since has risen to 47, and 47.5 on some books. That is still not high enough. As great a coach as Vic Fangio is, and the amazing job the Eagles’ defensive coordinator did last year, it is still hard to replace eight or nine of your veteran guys on defense. They lost that lost starting defensive tackle Milton Williams, defensive end Josh Sweat, cornerback Darius Slay, safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson, and cornerback Isaiah Rodgers, and depth pieces in the legendary Brandon Graham and Oren Burks. Gardner-Johnson had six of the Eagle’s 13 interceptions last season, which accounted for 46-percent of the Eagles’ interceptions. Sweat, Williams, Gardner-Johnson, Rodgers, Burks and Graham combined to account for 46-percent of the Eagles’ sack rate and 23-percent of their tackle production last season. That’s a lot to compensate for. We all know how important Micah Parsons was to the Cowboys’ defense. Don’t be surprised if the total reached 50 by game time.

Bottom line:

Two weeks ago, the lean was towards the Cowboys, but with Landon Dickerson back for the Eagles, and Parsons gone from the Cowboys, the price would have to go up to minus-10 before thinking about putting a wager on Dallas. Dak Prescott has owned the Eagles and he is 33-8 against the NFC East, with four of the eight losses coming against the Eagles, but he has won nine of the 13 times he has played the Eagles, 64-percent of the time. Between CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens, Prescott has the bullets on offense. That’s a lot to stop. Take the over, unless it reaches Dallas plus-10.

Prop bets for the game:

Jalen Hurts over 212 passing yards

Jalen Hurts over 250 passing yards plus-220

Other plays:

7-point teaser take the Denver Broncos minus-1.5 vs. Tennessee Titans, teased with the Baltimore Ravens plus-8.5 against the Buffalo Bills.

(Betting lines are subject to change.)
