One of the many cool things about the Philadelphia Eagles winning Super Bowl LIX is that it means their fans don’t have to wait as long as most others to see their favorite team play.
The Birds are in the NFL Kickoff Game spotlight.
And for the first time since 2000, they’re playing the Dallas Cowboys in Week 1.
Long overdue.
The 2025 Eagles have been vigilant about distancing themselves from the 2024 Eagles.
But while they’re correct to point out it’s a new team in a new season, the reality is that a lot of the same badass MFers remain.
Any examination of the Eagles’ roster through the lens of “What could go wrong?” should be followed by “What could go right?”
Because the answer to the latter question is: a lot.
The strengths outweigh the weaknesses, especially relative to the rest of the league.
That much doesn’t mean there won’t be bumps in the road.
The 2024 Eagles obviously took time to round into form after a 2-2 start that involved a blowout loss in Week 4.
The 2025 Eagles still have some things (such as the CB2 position) to figure out.
Beating the Cowboys might not be as easy as it should be.
They have low expectations to live up to as the biggest Week 1 underdogs (+8.5 points).
And yet it’s hard not to give the Birds the benefit of the doubt.
Saquon Barkley is unstoppable until further notice.
If Dallas is going to key in on taking him away, opportunities up for Jalen Hurts and the passing game.
Vic Fangio can be trusted to have answers for a Cowboys offense that features talented receivers but totally lacks running game talent behind a questionable offensive line.
The Linc will be rocking as the 2025 Eagles begin the season with a win.
