Some good news for Philadelphia Eagles fans traveling to Lincoln Financial Field to attend Thursday night’s home opener: SEPTA’s Broad Street Line service has been restored courtesy of resources provided by FanDuel.
From the press release:
SEPTA will run regularly scheduled subway trains, plus Sports Express trips, before and after the game. Pre-game, Sports Express trips will run every 10 minutes to supplement Local service. Post-game, SEPTA will have 10 Express and six Local trains ready to get fans home from NRG Station. Post-game trips will operate over a period of approximately 70 minutes, and SEPTA urges fans to go to NRG station right after the game to ensure they can catch a train home.
The FanDuel sponsorship covers free rides home for fans. The free rides from NRG Station begin at halftime and continue through the end of service.
The Eagles previously released a travel advisory on Tuesday due to recent SEPTA service cuts:
In light of the uncertainties with respect to SEPTA’s service, the Philadelphia Eagles are issuing fan guidance for Thursday’s home opener at Lincoln Financial Field.
Fans with tickets to Thursday’s game should plan to arrive early and allow for additional travel time to Lincoln Financial Field. The Eagles are encouraging everyone to be inside the stadium by 7:45 p.m.
Parking lots in the South Philadelphia Sports Complex will open earlier than what is typically advertised for home games. All parking lots will open at 1:30 p.m. Please carpool if possible.
As a courtesy to all Eagles fans, tailgates should be consolidated so that all parking spaces can be made available to every fan. This can be done by arranging a tailgate setup in front of or behind the parked vehicle within the painted white lines of the parking spot.
To avoid added congestion, the Eagles are asking fans without a game ticket to not travel down to the South Philadelphia Sports Complex. Arrangements should be made to enjoy the game with family and friends at another location.
Though it’s not a long-term solution, the temporary restoration does help to prevent Thursday night from being as much of a shit show as it could’ve been.
