The Las Vegas Raiders were in search of a veteran quarterback after Aidan O’Connell fractured his wrist. It left the team with only Geno Smith and Cam Miller had the position and had to make a move.
They decided to send a 5th-round pick for former Pittsburgh Steeler 1st-round pick Kenny Pickett. Pickett has been on three teams in two seasons, joining the Raiders after the trade. The former University of Pittsburgh Panther is 15-10 as a starter but only has 15 touchdowns in 25 starts. His lack of production led the Steelers to replace him with Russell Wilson in 2024 and trade him to the Eagles.
After all of his issues of staying on a roster that believes in him, Pickett is coming in with a chip on his shoulder. He is ready to prove that he can help a football tea,m whether as a backup or a starter.
“Yeah, I think I can add to that. I really resonate with a lot of the guys here. I played against Maxx
[Crosby] twice, and I think from the first snap to the last, we were going back and forth the entire game.
So, you want guys like that on your team and he’s a great one to have”
While it isn’t an ideal situation if he does play snaps in 2025, Pickett is a valuable backup, helping the Eagles win a game in the event of Jalen Hurts’ absence. Hopefully, the chip shoulder will make him successful despite the change Geno Smith makes.
