Dear readers, did you think Micah Parsons would be traded by the Dallas Cowboys? I did not. I had thought that Jerry Jones and Parsons would work it out, and I truly did not think that the super star defensive beast would be moved, but shows you what I know. Not only was Parsons traded but he was traded in the NFC (not even the AFC!), absolutely wild.
This move should move the needle for the Green Bay Packers, and while the Cowboys weren’t likely to win a Super Bowl this year, it’s harder to see them making it happen now, but maybe those first round picks will turn into something special. As special as Parsons? I don’t know.
We’ll see if any other major moves happen between now and Week 1, but please check out the links, comment on whatever you want and thanks reading Turf Show Times!
Comparing the Rams’ worst trade ever to Cowboys’ Micah Parsons blunder (ramblinfan)
“No NFL team is immune to stumbling when it comes to trading veteran players. And that holds true for the Los Angeles Rams as well. Even as fans rush to troll and chide the Dallas Cowboys for trading away Edge rusher Micah Parsons, in the prime of his football career no less, for veteran DT Kenny Clark and two Round 1 draft picks, there are reasons not to pick up stones and join in.
After all, people who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones. It was 1996 that the then St. Louis Rams decided to pull the trigger on a draft day trade that shocked everyone. They traded 24-year-old running back Jerome Bettis, plus a third-round pick, to the Pittsburgh Steelers for a second-round pick in the 1996 draft plus a fourth-rounder in ‘97.“
Sean McVay Dishes On Coaching Staff and 2025 Season (si.com)
“We have so many great leaders on our coaching staff, really players and coaches,” stated McVay. “This is such an enjoyable group. I think the best part is I can truly step back and let our coaches lead. You’re always there, but this is probably the most fun I’ve had just being able to step back, watch the coordinators and the position coaches lead the way. As long as I don’t screw it up, things will follow and we’ll be in good shape. I definitely would not vote myself a captain.”
NFC West preview: Re-tooled 49ers and revived Rams headline a deep division (nytimes)
“Even after a 6-11 season, it’s tough to count out the 49ers. They are counting on the ascension of some young players, and it seems Kyle Shanahan is counting on a growing process playing out over the course of the regular season. There might be some lingering questions regarding the health of Matthew Stafford in L.A., but the addition of Davante Adams means the Rams have a chance to have a special season. Meanwhile, the Seahawks have a potentially elite defense complementing an offense that went back to the drawing board, and the Cardinals can do plenty of damage if their star quarterback and future star receiver click this year.“
