Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles links …

Micah Parsons trade: Biggest winners/losers from blockbuster Cowboys-Packers deal – NFL.com

NFC East offenses: You can almost hear the din from chuckling Commanders, Eagles and Giants fans across the country. Their division rival just sold the best defensive player in the conference for a couple of lotto tickets and a defensive tackle entering his age-30 season in Clark. Even with an offensive line as good as Philly’s, Parsons still gave the Eagles fits. The edge rusher’s 10.5 career sacks versus Washington represent his highest total against any club, by five. The regularly rebuilding Giants offensive line finally gets a reprieve. Parsons is the type of defender whom offensive coaches spend an entire week game-planning for. Not having to face him twice a year? That’s a massive win, even before you consider that Dallas got unquestionably weaker.

Packers earn high marks for Micah Parsons trade while the Cowboys earn something else – SB Nation

Now that the door is busted open. And it comes when the Cowboys were already looking up at both the Commanders and the Eagles in the division. It is difficult to see how this move helps Dallas close those gaps here in 2025. Ultimately, the Cowboys may make the most of this deal next year and beyond. They could turn those two first-round selections into premier players. But they traded an All-Pro and burned bridges with the fan bases for that potential. And traded him to a team that bounced them out of the playoffs in a blowout following the 2023 regular season, when the Packers were the No. 7 seed and the Cowboys were playing at home as the No. 2 seed. This all sounds like a mystery box situation … Looking at the process Dallas followed to get here, it is hard to feel good about this trade from the Cowboys’ perspective. And when you are drawing comparisons to Peter Griffin, that is not a good thing.

Jerry Jones Lost the Micah Parsons Trade and His Reputation – The Ringer

I’m not sure Jerry would be patient enough for a rebuild if this season goes badly, but even if he were, truly tearing the team down and starting over might not be possible. Prescott will still have $130 million of dead money left on his deal in 2026. Lamb will have nearly $70 million left on his. Trading either of them for draft capital would be difficult—if not impossible—due to cap logistics. The future draft picks Dallas nabbed from Green Bay will help the team add some young talent to the roster, but if those picks are coming at the end of the round, assuming the Packers are a very good team with Parsons, it’s unlikely Dallas will be finding franchise-changing players with them. Any way you look at it, it feels like the Cowboys are a few years away from being a few years away. With Jones in his early 80s, the likelihood of him leading his beloved franchise to another Super Bowl before he steps away from the front office is diminishing every day. When Jerry traded his best player back in 1989, it marked the beginning of a new era in Cowboys football. This time around, it feels like the end of one.

Micah Parsons Traded to the Packers – Over The Cap

For Dallas the opposite is true. This minimizes their chances to compete now and requires some great draft picks to come out from this. Sure they saved a bunch of money but it is not like they are going to spend it on free agents in the future as Dallas generally avoids free agency like the plague. I don’t know if Dallas is a real competitor this year or not but if these two picks do not lead to Dallas drafting a good young QB next year or the year after I am not sure what the point will be. Dallas had leverages here and let it all vanish basically getting talked into a trading away a player they probably should have not traded in 2025.

Darius Cooper is ‘a freak of nature’ who’s only ‘scratching the surface’ by making the Eagles – The Athletic

This deserves emphasis: Cooper has only been playing wide receiver for five years. It’s important context that gives extra significance to the training camp kudos Cooper received from A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith, who complimented Cooper’s body control and strong hands. After Cooper’s breakout game in the Eagles’ preseason opener, Smith said he went back and watched Cooper’s college highlights on YouTube because he “didn’t really know much about him.” Smith saw Cooper dominate similar one-on-one matchups with one long touchdown after another. In Cooper’s final game at Tarleton State — a second-round FCS playoff loss to No. 4 South Dakota — he logged nine catches for 161 yards and three touchdowns, including a 23-yard post in which he somersaulted over a defender into the end zone. “He’s a freak of nature,” Smith said. “He’s fun to watch.”

Eagles jersey number updates: New looks for Darius Cooper, Jakorian Bennett, and others – BGN

Following NFL roster cuts, multiple Philadelphia Eagles players capitalized on being able to change to newly available jersey numbers. And so here’s a very important #JerseyNumberAnalytics update for you since I’m the definitive authority on this very subject.

Quarterback Kryptonite: Biggest weaknesses for every NFL starting QB – PFF

Philadelphia Eagles: Jalen Hurts. Biggest Weakness: Third down. Hurts’ 54.0 third-down PFF passing grade in 2024 ranked second to last among returning starting quarterbacks. He had just three outings where his third-down PFF passing grade surpassed 80.0, though one was the NFC Championship game. Hurts did finish with an 80.2 PFF passing grade on money downs in 2023, and since play on third downs isn’t stable, he might return to top-tier play in 2025.

Undersized and underestimated, Willie Lampkin ready to outplay his stature – NBCSP

Willie Lampkin can’t escape it. It’s the first thing everyone wants to talk about because there isn’t anyone else like Lampkin in the NFL. There’s just nothing the rookie offensive lineman can do about his 5-foot-11, 290-pound frame. So, yeah, sometimes he gets a little tired talking about his size — or lack thereof. “Yeah, kinda, yeah,” Lampkin said on Thursday. “I can’t change it. I’ll do my best and I’ll do what I have to do to stay here.” Lampkin, 23, got to Philadelphia this week after the Eagles claimed him off waivers from the Rams. Lampkin initially signed with Los Angeles after going undrafted out of North Carolina but was released with an injury designation earlier this week. Had he cleared waivers, Lampkin would have reverted to the Rams’ Injured Reserve list. But the Eagles didn’t let that happen.

Spadaro: Tyler Steen earns his locker stall and a major shakeup in Dallas – PE.com

This has been a staple of the Eagles’ locker room at the NovaCare Complex for years: In the far right back corner, the starting offensive line has its lockers lined up, left to right. Farthest away is left tackle Jordan Mailata. Next to him is left guard Landon Dickerson’s locker. Next to him, center Cam Jurgens. At the very end, right tackle Lane Johnson. The lone empty spot has been filled, and with that, Tyler Steen is smiling. He is the starting right guard heading into Thursday’s regular-season opener against Dallas and he is darn pleased with the work he’s put in, the progress he has made, and the play he has shown this spring and summer. Steen, a third-year player from Alabama, has a high level of confidence with the opener ahead. “Very confident,” Steen said on Thursday afternoon. “I’m really confident in the guys we have in that room. I plan to lean on those guys. Just make sure we communicate well and that we’re on the same page and I think everything will go well.”

College Football is here, celebrate with Fran Duffy’s 2026 NFL Mock Draft – PHLY

32 – PHILADELPHIA EAGLES – T MAX IHEANACHOR – ARIZONA STATE. The Eagles missed out on addressing offensive tackle in the first three rounds of this NFL Draft, but they can get back to their normal ways next spring. Iheanachor is a great athlete, particularly for 6-foot-6, 325 pounds. He has natural power and a strong anchor in pass protection as well. A dancing bear with impressive feet, he needs a TON of work on the technical side of things, which is to be expected, considering he never played football until he arrived at Junior College in 2021. He’s the type of project I’d love to see paired with a coach like Jeff Stoutland.

What If? – Hogs Haven

There are guys who didn’t even crack this: All-Pros Bobby Wagner and Frankie Luvu. Zach Ertz. The blocking dominance of John Bates. Special teams aces Jeremy Reaves and Nate Bellore. Quan Martin. Tyler Biadasz. The list goes on. All of this said, nothing about 2024 matters once 2025 kicks off. But you could argue in a lot of places, this team has gotten stronger, deeper and flat out more talented. All of that remains to be seen. The schedule is tougher. The quarterbacks are better. The spotlight is brighter. The miles are longer. But again… what if that doesn’t matter? What if 2025 is just as special? What if this team outperforms last year? What if last year was just the launching pad? …what if?

Dallas Cowboys traded Micah Parsons in the most inefficient manner possible – Blogging The Boys

If the Cowboys wanted to trade Micah Parsons then they should have made the determination that such a move was necessary long ago. The Cowboys could have dealt him at the beginning of this offseason and if they had then they would have had a larger leg to stand on from a negotiation standpoint. What’s more is the Cowboys could have actually utilized the draft compensation they would have received immediately instead of having to wait. And on top of that they would have gotten compensation that Parsons couldn’t have impacted by making Green Bay a better team and worsening their draft position. Feel what you want to feel about the Parsons trade. Be for or against it. But the fact that the Cowboys did it the way that they did is representative of their biggest issue – delaying all important things. This same principle is/was true with Dak Prescott last year, by the way. By giving Dak the deal that they did on quite literally the day that the season began they also handled that in the most inefficient manner possible. Nothing was gained from Dallas by waiting this trade out. All they did was compromise their position against the Packers and paid the price by not getting more compensation as a result of it all.

Assorted thoughts on the Micah Parsons trade – Acme Packing Company

Two first-round picks and Kenny Clark in exchange for Parsons makes sense in this trade. Khalil Mack went for just under two first-round picks when he was traded in his prime, and Clark was likely to be a cap casualty in 2026 — especially if he were on the roster after the addition of Parsons. Clark and center Elgton Jenkins were the players who, due to their age and cost, were most likely to be released from the team in 2026 anyway.

Giants’ Andrew Thomas doesn’t sound like he believes he will play Week 1 – Big Blue View

Thomas admitted Thursday that the Lisfranc rehab has been “a tough recovery.” Thomas said there will always be some pain in the surgically-repaired foot that he will need to manage, but he is trying to learn the difference between normal, OK soreness and something more alarming. “I’ve talked to different doctors, different surgeons that have different opinions. I think part of it, coming back from an injury like this, there will be some soreness that you have to manage and get through,” Thomas said. “My biggest concern is making sure I can’t make it worse or re-injure it, so I’m just trying to take my time, stick with the plan that they’re giving me, and see where it goes.” Thomas said he has used former Giant Shaun O’Hara, who dealt with a similar injury during his career, as a resource. “It’s just a tough injury for heavier guys,” Thomas said. “You’ll have projections of when they think you’ll be back, but for bigger guys, a lot of times it just takes longer, and that’s what he [O’Hara] said. It took him nine or ten months to get through some of the pain and stuff, and throughout the season he dealt with some stuff too.” The Giants need the best version of Thomas they can get, whenever they can get it. On Thursday, Thomas did not sound like a player who will be on the field Week 1.

Raiders claim safety Tristin McCollum – Silver And Black Pride

McCollum was in Philadelphia with new Raiders’ front-office executive Brandon Hunt. Quarterback Kenny Pickett, who the Raiders traded for this week, was spent time there with Hunt. McCollum’s twin brother, Zyon, was in Tampa Bay with Raiders general manager John Spytek the past three seasons. The Raiders have four safeties on the 53-man roster, starters Jeremy Chinn and Isaiah Pola-Mao, Chris Smith and now McCollum. The addition of McCollum could potentially keep veteran addition Terrell Edmunds from being promoted from the practice squad on game day.

YouTube-Fox strike a deal – PFT

A day after YouTube and Fox reached a “short-term extension” to allow Fox networks to continue to stream to the customers of the YouTube TV service, the two sides have a longer-term deal. YouTube TV announced the agreement on Thursday night. “We’re happy to share that we’ve reached a deal with Fox to keep their content on YouTube TV,” the company said on social media. “This means that Fox channels, including the Fox Broadcast Network, Fox News, and Fox Sports, remain available, and football fans will not miss any of the action this weekend.”
