Micah Parsons trade: Cowboys send star edge rusher to Packers ahead of Week 1 Eagles game

It happened! The Cowboys actually decided to part ways with one of the best players on their team because owner Jerry Jones is a stubborn old man who won’t pay his players — or negotiate per the CBA with players’ agents.

Rumors started heating up around the time of the roster cut deadline on Tuesday that the Packers had a pretty good deal on the table, with suggestions that Green Bay just needed to agree to new terms with Parsons. Internet rumors don’t always end up being rooted in truth, but this one was, and one of the best edge rushers in the NFL is now out of the NFC East.

The Packers gave up two first round picks and DT Kenny Clark in exchange for Parsons, and then made him the highest paid non-QB in the NFL.

The Eagles — and Lane Johnson specifically — won’t have to worry about game planning for Parsons in Week 1, and won’t have to go against him twice a year, anymore. They will face off once in 2025, though, with the Eagles playing in Green Bay on November 10.

Dallas losing Parsons is pure comedy given how Jones runs his team, and how he’s made a spectacle out of contract negotiations every year for the past decade. He’s proven time and again that any attention is good for the Cowboys, even when it’s an entire fanbase calling out their decisions. Jones finally met his match with Parsons, who held strong, and forced his way out of town.

Don’t feel too bad for Jerry Jones, though, Netflix cared enough about him to do an eight-part series — which will have to serve as his consolation prize for his team’s failure to win a championship in the past 30 years.
