Eagles News: Player survey tabs Moro Ojomo as Philadelphia’s top breakout candidate

Locker room survey: Which Eagles player is primed for a big season? – PHLY

Zack Baun: “Moro Ojomo. He looks really good. I’m excited for him.” … Patrick Johnson: “Mo. He’s been dominating all camp.” … Nolan Smith: “Man, that’s a loaded question. But I gotta say my guy Mo. Mo and (Jordan Davis). They’re gonna have a big year. How come? I just know they work hard and they keep their head down and they’re gonna show it.” … Cam Jurgens: “Moro. I feel like I might have said him last year too. … His work ethic. He works hard. It’s pretty impressive. He’s so good at just picking people’s ears and learning what other guys do. He talks to offensive linemen and talks to other D-linemen. He works hard. He’s gotten stronger, he’s gotten faster. He’s just added a lot more skills to be able to beat O-linemen. He’s not as predictable. I’m really happy with how he’s playing.” … Tyler Steen: “Moro. Just the jump he’s made not only on the field mentally, off the field how he approaches each day. Yeah, it’s him.”

2025 NFL season X factors: Key players for all 32 teams – ESPN

Philadelphia Eagles: DT Moro Ojomo. Many next-guy-up options were available here. Edge rushers Nolan Smith Jr. and Jalyx Hunt must replace the lost snaps of Josh Sweat and Brandon Graham, while guard Tyler Steen must step into Mekhi Becton’s shoes. But I chose Ojomo, who has to replace the outgoing Milton Williams at defensive tackle, because Ojomo has the best chance to become a sudden star. Ojomo is fresh off his best NFL season, which went underreported behind the career year from Williams. Ojomo’s game is better against the run, and while he had solid pressure production (9.3% pressure rate on 248 pass rushes as compared with Williams’ 12.9% on 271 rushes), Ojomo did not bring down the quarterback (zero sacks as compared with Williams’ five). But Ojomo’s film was enough that the Eagles made almost no additions behind him on the depth chart, only bringing in fourth-round rookie Ty Robinson. That implies Ojomo will get all of Williams’ third-and-long opportunities beside Jalen Carter. If Ojomo can turn his pressures into sacks at a league-average rate, expect him to start getting the same hype Williams did last season.

Eagles injury news: A.J. Brown, Landon Dickerson among players returning to practice – BGN

On Wednesday, the Philadelphia Eagles held their first practice following Tuesday’s roster cuts down to 53 players. While the team is not yet required to issue an official injury report (the first one will be revealed on Monday, September 2), there are multiple updates that were gleaned from the brief media-attended portion of Wednesday’s practice.

First Changes – Iggles Blitz

Why did the Rams let him go? Lampkin had a knee injury. They took a chance in waiving him. 30 teams passed on claiming Lampkin, but the Eagles snatched him. I love this move. Lampkin is undersized, but he is a good player. He uses his size to his advantage, playing with great leverage. He’s strong. He uses his hands well and has active feet. Lampkin has good movement skills. I’m excited to see what he does under the tutelage of Jeff Stoutland and in the Eagles scheme.

How the 2025 post-Super Bowl Eagles are different than 2018 — and the lessons they learned – The Athletic

That dynamic did not exactly dissipate during the season when the Eagles were inconsistent with Wentz. It only intensified at the end of the season when Foles rallied the Eagles to the postseason. Roseman and Lane Johnson both referenced the 2018 slow start followed by the hot finish. The Eagles opened the season 2-3 and were 6-7 when Wentz was sidelined for the season. Then came the three-game winning streak to earn the playoff bid. “When you look at it, don’t change your routines and your habits,” Johnson said. “Remember what makes a team successful. Trying to lean on that, and not trying to play hero ball.” There are similarities to 2018 with the Eagles replacing their offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, but the continuity with Jalen Hurts and 10 of 11 offensive starters returning makes it hard to compare the 2025 Eagles to the team from seven years ago. Of course, Roseman and Lurie remain — and they have a perspective on navigating the post-Super Bowl year and years differently. Even on cutdown day, Roseman reiterated the parallel tracks for the Eagles — trying to win this year while also looking beyond 2025. Roseman pledged to avoid sentimentality when assembling this roster, and he allowed homegrown players and key contributors from the Super Bowl defense to depart while understanding the Eagles needed to preserve resources for up-and-coming talent such as Jalen Carter, Nolan Smith, Quinyon Mitchell, and Cooper DeJean. The Eagles did not have the same pipeline in 2018. At that point, the only Pro Bowler drafted between 2014 and 2017 was Wentz. (Isaac Seumalo later joined the group.)

Training camp darling Darius Cooper appreciates ‘the journey’ from going undrafted to Eagles’ 53-man roster – Inquirer

Darius Cooper got the call to the office on Tuesday. It was time for the training camp darling, undrafted out of Tarleton State, to meet with Eagles general manager Howie Roseman and head coach Nick Sirianni. His football future hung in the balance, but Cooper said he walked toward the meeting with a sense of peace. The meeting started with a question. “They asked me my opinion of how I did during training camp,” Cooper said Wednesday. The 23-year-old told them he did “OK,” but there were things he could’ve done better. Cooper burst onto the scene with six catches for 82 yards and a touchdown in his preseason debut. But he knew he had to stay neutral despite taking occasional first-team reps through the final week of camp. The meeting, of course, ended with good news for Cooper. He would be on the initial 53-man roster. He left the meeting and called his wife, Kennady, whom he has been with since the two attended Missouri’s Hazelwood West High School. Kennady, Cooper said, “has all the feels” right now.

Brandon Graham has the perfect spot to watch Eagles-Cowboys – NBCSP

Two-time Super Bowl Champion and Philadelphia legend Brandon Graham joined John Clark on the latest episode of the Takeoff podcast, where he shared his plans for the Eagles’ season-opener. This is his first year as a fan and Graham is making sure to take it all in like never before — and that means he’s heading to the stands at Lincoln Financial Field. More specifically, in true B.G. fashion, he’s sitting right behind the Cowboys’ bench for the game. So if the Cowboys believed they were finally getting away from the best trash-talker in the league, think again.

Spadaro: Gabe Hall is a success story for the Eagles’ developmental program – PE.com

Sometimes, it just takes a little longer for the bloom to open. For Gabe Hall, a young defensive tackle in the Eagles’ impressively deep room, it required about a full season. And then an offseason. And then another Training Camp and preseason and, well, here he is. Blooming. Developing. More to go. “Worked hard. I took coaching well. Everybody in that building wanted to help me, from the players to the coaches,” said Hall on Wednesday after practice. “I listened to everything they said. They were always willing to help me, no matter what time of the day or night.” A standout player at Baylor, Hall earned All-Big 12 honors in his final season there and actually had back-to-back terrific years. He went undrafted in 2024 and the Eagles signed him and went to work on bringing out the best in Hall throughout the World Championship season with Hall on the team’s practice squad.

New Eagles QB after last-second trade: ‘I’ll be ready’ for Week 1 – NJ.com

Sam Howell understands that he “had to take a step back” after Washington traded him to Seattle (and later drafted rookie sensation Jayden Daniels). He wants to become a better player, and learning from Hurts — “a Super Bowl-winning quarterback,” Howell pointed out — will help. But if Hurts goes down next Thursday night and McKee is unavailable, learning time will be over for Howell. He knows that’s the nature of the NFL — and he believes he’ll be ready if needed. “I have a lot of respect for this organization and how Howie and Nick do things here,” Howell said. “I know how good this team is. I know how good this organization is. So I’m happy to be here and trying to help in any way I can.”

Cole Strange, Marcus Epps find new homes after Patriots cuts – Pats Pulpit

Epps, 29, entered the NFL as a sixth-round draft choice by the Vikings in 2019. After spending time in Minnesota, Philadelphia and Las Vegas, he joined the Patriots on a one-year, $2.03 million free agency pact earlier this offseason. Coming off a torn ACL, Epps never emerged past reserve status in a deep safety room. Even with former starter Kyle Dugger being demoted to scout team duty in practice, he failed to make a serious push for a starting spot. Epps subsequently asked the team to release him ahead of the cutdown deadline. Just 24 hours later, he finds himself back with his former team.

4 Rams claimed on waivers – Turf Show Times

These four players will also not be on L.A.’s practice squad unfortunately, at least not right away. With so many fans upset that Troy Reeder made the final roster, this news of the Rams losing four players on the waiver wire will hit even harder. Should McVay have kept someone like Jackson or Lampkin instead of Reeder, even if the Rams would have only had three linebackers for the time being?

Former Broncos RB Audric Estime signs to the Eagles practice squad – Mile High Report

The former 5th-round pick joined the Broncos with lots of hype and was given an opportunity to shine during his rookie season. Unfortunately, that never happened, and he was later a healthy scratch for the Broncos’ wildcard game vs. the Bills. On top of that, the team would go out and draft R.J. Harvey in the 2nd round and then sign veteran running back J.K. Dobbins. Both of those additions changed the running back room significantly. Estime’s fall from grace became apparent when he was clearly last on the depth chart throughout camp and the preseason before eventually being waived by the team.

Dolphins bring back Kendall Lamm – The Phinsider

The Miami Dolphins are bringing back a familiar face. Offensive tackle Kendall Lamm, who the Philadelphia Eagles released as part of their final roster cuts on Tuesday, will be returning to Miami, where he spent the past three seasons. Lamm signed a one-year contract with the Eagles during the offseason. Dolphins general manager Chris Grier reported the signing during a Wednesday morning media availability.

NFL suspends Chiefs’ Rashee Rice for 6 games to open 2025 season – Arrowhead Pride

There had been a great deal of speculation about the length of Rice’s potential suspension. Some reports indicated the league wanted it to be 10 games or more. Others said the league initially wanted an eight-game suspension. The last hard information was that there would be a hearing on September 30 to determine its length. But then it became clear that the league and the NFL Players’ Association (NFLPA) were negotiating — and if an agreement could be reached, no hearing would take place. [BLG Note: Rice will miss the Eagles-Chiefs game in Week 2.]

We now know the details of Terry McLaurin’s contract extension – Hogs Haven

The details of Terry McLaurin’s contract extension are now publicly available, and, as most knowledgeable NFL observers had expected, the deal is not as clearly lucrative as Monday’s reporting would have indicated. Yes, the extension adds 3 years and more than $96m to McLaurin’s existing deal, but the guarantees are modest and the opportunities for the Commanders to save cap space by cutting or trading Terry in either of the final two years of his contract offer a great deal of flexibility to the team. The average annual value of the extension is consistent with the rest of the top-tier receiver contracts we’ve seen recently and McLaurin can look forward to solid cash flows in 2025 and 2026, but little certainty beyond that.

Report: Cowboys pass rusher Micah Parsons seeking second opinion on back issue – Blogging The Boys

The Dallas Cowboys begin their season eight days from now, and at the moment, it is unclear whether or not Micah Parsons is going to be on the field. Right now it is also fair to wonder whether he will even be in the building. A photo of Parsons in the DFW airport began to circulate on the internet on Wednesday, and as speculation was running wild, NFL Network’s Jane Slater chimed in to note that Parsons is headed to get a second opinion on his back.

Micah Parsons and the NFL’s Siberia – Acme Packing Company

After multiple conversations with people this week, this is my belief on this situation. Do I think Parsons and Jones ultimately get an extension done in Dallas? I still think it’s highly likely, but I’ve been told that both the Cowboys and Packers have spent more time contemplating, inside their organizations, what a trade would look like in recent days. Officially, there’s no trade offer on the table because, officially, the Cowboys still aren’t taking offers. The point of this story is to show you how the sausage is made in the NFL, why these rumors are coming from more unconventional sources than the usual insiders and why Green Bay is frequently brought up as a potential landing spot for players in contract disputes. We’re all seeing the smoke, but at this point, no one seems to know for sure if there’s an actual fire burning or if Jones and Mulugheta are just trying to spook each other into a more favorable deal for their side. Make no mistake, though, the Packers are intertwined as a secondary character. At least for now.

Ex-Giant Tommy DeVito claimed by New England Patriots – Big Blue View

Tommy DeVito will not be returning to the New York Giants as a member of the team’s practice. DeVito was claimed on waivers Wednesday by the New England Patriots. There was some hope that the popular DeVito, a New Jersey high school hero who authored an unlikely three-game winning streak as an undrafted free agent rookie quarterback in 2023, would go unclaimed and return to the Giants on the practice.

NFL preview 2025: Rankings, division picks, award predictions, and more – SB Nation

Football is pain. Beautiful, exquisite, pain. For 17 weeks we fall in love all over again, maybe longer if we’re lucky — knowing full well that the season will likely end in heartache. We keep coming back, year after year, even when our team is terrible, because loyalty mandates it. It’s love often unrequited, spurred on by the fleeting hope that even the smallest of chance at glory is impossible to resist.
