The Miami Dolphins will add an alternate uniform to their rotation on Thursday and the NFL and Nike unveil the first round of their joint “Rivalries” collection. These uniforms are intended for use against each team’s top rival, providing a unique look for the home team in those games. The Dolphins will wear the new look in Week 4, September 29, in their Monday Night Football game against the New York Jets.
The jerseys are expected to be a three-year option for the teams to use as an alternate. The AFC East, including the Dolphins, and the NFC West will be released this season. The other divisions will follow over the next few years.
The Jets will wear their Rivalries jersey in their home game against the Dolphins on December 7.
The jersey release is set for 10 am Eastern on Thursday.
The Dolphins have released videos hyping up the release of the new look:
The use of an inverted logo in both of those videos could lean toward Miami adding a gray or black uniform, including the helmet, for the first time in their history. The look would likely then include orange or aqua numbers and name plates.
Possible Leak
Dolphins fan Grant Tomasso may have stumbled onto a leak on Wednesday night. Using the photo gallery on the Dolphins’ app, he discovered a look which would seem to support the inverted logo look in the hype videos, and does give a team a look they have never had before.
What do you think of these images? Is this accurate? We will cover the official unveiling and provide our reactions in an update to this article at 10 am Eastern.
