2025 NFL Preview: New York Giants | PFF
Bottom line. The Giants have a wealth of defensive potential and a significantly improved quarterback situation. If their offensive line can find a way to improve upon last season’s poor performance, New York is a dark-horse playoff contender. If that unit doesn’t perform well, the offense could stagnate too often for them to win games.
Manti Te’o: Dart has earned a starting role

Buy: Giants QB Jaxson Dart. Of course, Dart didn’t play exclusively against starters or against complex defenses tailored to stop him. His preseason prowess can be taken with a grain of salt. That doesn’t mean the 22-year-old’s comfort level in Brian Daboll’s offense wasn’t real, though. Dart may have some struggles when he gets on the field, but he genuinely looks like a player poised to pressure Russell Wilson throughout the season.
Sell: The Undefeated Giants. The Giants did undoubtedly look more efficient and capable than they did a year ago, but they also faced two teams that didn’t play their starting lineups and one that barely put its first team on the field. The fact that all of New York’s quarterbacks looked like NFL starters in the preseason is a sign that fans shouldn’t start purchasing playoff passes just yet.

“Just his attention to deal with everything,” Robinson said when asked what he’s learned most about Wilson during training camp. “Whenever it comes to routes, he wants to know that you’re gonna be in certain spots and he’s gonna let you know exactly what he needs out of you, which is definitely something I’ve felt like we needed as a whole team.

📉 Russell Wilson’s future in New York was always expected to be temporary, but Jaxson Dart accelerated that timeline. This preseason, the 22-year-old rookie impressed with his poise and decision-making across 47 pass attempts, completing 68 percent for 372 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions.
Dart showed consistent improvement with his deep passing (a few were dropped) and looked the part of a future franchise quarterback. Wilson’s days remain numbered.
Tommy DeVito’s Giants teammate backs QB whose future is in doubt | NJ.com
“I think there’s plenty of tape out there that shows he can play in this league,” said WR Wan’Dale Robinson. “He’s just grown since he got here. I remember when he first got here, it was like this dude doesn’t know anything going on with this offense, he’s really quiet.”
8. Malik Nabers, New York Giants. Just 22, he was absolutely prolific as a rookie, catching 109 passes for 1,204 yards and seven touchdowns. He did all that while missing two games and catching passes from … Daniel Jones, Drew Lock and Tim Boyle. And Nabers could very well add touchdowns from another three QBs this season. He set an NFL record as the most targeted rookie ever last year with 170 targets, and could easily top that in 2025 if he stays healthy. The lack of a solid No. 2 receiver means defenses can focus extra attention on him in coverage. Double-digit touchdowns? Seems like a natural step in his second year in the league

Grading every NFL team’s preseason: Chiefs, Giants earn high marks | CBSSports.com
It’s been a while since we were able to say this, but it must feel good to be a New York Giants fan right now. Why? Because it looks like the franchise hit home runs with both of its first-round draft picks. While Abdul Carter was considered to be a Day 1 contributor off the edge and has backed that up this summer, what has turned heads has been the performance from former Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart. The 25th overall pick looked the part of a future franchise quarterback, showing command in the pocket while completing 32 of his 47 passes for 372 yards and three passing touchdowns over three games. It remains to be seen if Dart will find his way atop the depth chart in 2025, but New York seems to have a legit quarterback prospect they can begin building around even if Russell Wilson — who was solid this preseason — holds down the fort in Year 1. New York Giants Projected wins: 5.6 Verdict: Just right
The Giants improved their roster, particularly on defense with the additions of edge rusher Abdul Carter, cornerback Paulson Adebo and safety Jevon Holland. The quarterback play with Russell Wilson (and eventually Jaxson Dart) has to be better than the Daniel Jones-Drew Lock-Tommy DeVito disaster of last season. But still, this is a team that won three games last season. Even with the upgrades, it’s difficult to see many wins against the hardest schedule in the league.
Are Dallas Cowboys, Washington Commanders vulnerable as Giants hope for early upsets? | New York Daily News
Pat Leonard writes “They….drew a Washington team that they would have beaten in Week 2 last season if not for a bad Nabers fourth down drop and the Giants’ mismanagement of injured kicker Graham Gano. And then the league’s schedule makers made them the visiting team in Brian Schottenheimer’s first ever home game as an NFL head coach in Week 2 against the Cowboys in Arlington, Tex.
Plus, the Commanders and Cowboys seemingly have been unable to get out of their own way lately, at least on the business side. And it’s getting close to the time when that business is going to impact the product on the field in September – when the Giants will be waiting to try to take advantage and snatch some unexpected wins.”
