With a little more than 48 hours to go before their roster needs to be down to 53 players, the Minnesota Vikings have announced their first wave of roster moves.
Along with releasing quarterback Brett Rypien, a move that we mentioned earlier today, the Vikings have announced that they have waived the following players:
- OL Zach Bailey
- DL Travis Bell
- WR Silas Bolden
- OL Logan Brown
- CB Keenan Garber
- WR Robert Lewis
- S Mishael Powell
- CB Reddy Steward
- RB Tre Stewart
The Vikings have also terminated the contract of linebacker Cam Gill.
With these moves, the Vikings’ roster is now sitting at 79 players, meaning they need to make 26 more moves between now and Tuesday at 3:00 PM Central to get their roster in compliance with league rules.
It doesn’t appear that there were any real surprises in the first wave of cuts here. I think a lot of folks harbored a little bit of hope for Bolden or Brown, but neither of them really stood out during preseason play. We’ll have to see whether or not any of these players wind up back on the practice squad.
As the Vikings continue to make more roster moves, we’ll have all of them right here for you.
