The Indianapolis Colts concluded their preseason slate of games with a dominant showing over the Cincinnati Bengals. Although it was a game largely comprised of late depth chart reserves, solid football was showcased during this glorified tryout of a live-game scrimmage.

From training camp to the three preseason games, the reserves in question have been fighting for a roster spot, whether that be the ultimate goal of making an active roster or simply sticking in the league on a practice squad.

According to Pro Football Focus, these Colts had the best preseason showing overall. Amongst those with a snap count minimum of 35 snaps, here are PFF’s highest-graded Colts of the 2025 preseason slate:

  1. LB Joe Bachie (91.2)
  2. DE Isaiah Land (90.8)
  3. TE Tyler Warren (86.8)
  4. CB Alex Johnson (86.8)
  5. TE Jelani Woods (82.9)
  6. OL Luke Tenuta (80.0)
  7. WR Coleman Owen (79.9)

The Roster Locks

Obviously, first-round pick Tyler Warren and the future focal point of the Colts offense will be making the team. Getting to see him operate up close and personal over the summer was indeed a treat. The dude is as NFL-ready as rookie tight ends come.

The only Bengals defender to follow DC Lou Anarumo to Indy — LB Joe Bachie — has solidified himself as the starter alongside Zaire Franklin. A welcome surprise for sure, Bachie’s early-established pass coverage chops making for an intriguing complement.

He was already in line to be the last offensive lineman to make the cut, but a season-ending injury to tackle Blake Freeland and promising preseason play from Luke Tenuta have essentially confirmed his fate.

53-Man Hopefuls

Isaiah Land has been part of the Colts’ long-term pass rush plan for a couple of years now, and a breakout of sorts feels imminent. Although he’s nearly designated pass rusher status, the juice from Land is undeniably roster-worthy. Now’s the question of whether or not the Colts can fit him into the current plan. A recent slew of injuries suggests he will, but only time will tell.

It’s almost a foregone conclusion that the trio of young players in TE Jelani Woods, CB Alex Johnson, and WR Coleman Owen won’t be making the 53-man active roster due to logistical reasons, but all three had strong enough summers to warrant waiver wire claims elsewhere.
