There’s a winner for feel-good story of the Cincinnati Bengals’ offseason, and his name is Mitchell Tinsley.
The undrafted player out of Penn State was a long shot to make a roster that included Ja’Marr Chase, Tee Higgins, and talented emerging talents in Andrei Iosivas, Jermaine Burton, and Charlie Jones.
But, after wowing coaches and quarterback Joe Burrow in practice with tough catches, Tinsley went out and dominated in the Bengals’ preseason game against the Washington Commanders.
Zac Taylor didn’t need to see anymore. He sat Tinsley for the final preseason game against the Indianapolis Colts, indicating the receiver just about locked up his spot on the roster.
Tinsley isn’t the quickest guy, but he uses his size and hands well, out wrestling defenders to make highly contested catches. That’s a talent Burrow could use on third down and in the redzone.
Check out some of his best plays from the offseason and his game against the Commanders below.
It seems to be all but official that Tinsley will be a part of the 53-man roster and get the opportunity to showcase his gritty play in the regular season.
