Matthew Stafford made a jokey comment to the media prior to being asked about whatever back issues he is having or not having when Stafford brought up the fact that he had received a paper-cut on his finger while opening mail.
I know what your first thought is, who opens mail in 2025? Many of us.
Your second thought is probably, how can Matthew Stafford joke around at a time like this? This is serious. We are talking about football, the NFL, and quarterback play at the highest of levels, now is not the time to joke around. Shame on Matthew.
Stafford is about as cool as it gets. He’ll let his play do the talking for as long as he can.
We made it to Friday! Thank you for checking out Turf Show Times, and have a great day before the weekend!
Matthew Stafford cracked the perfect joke to open his 1st press conference since June (ramswire)
“Obviously, everyone was waiting to ask Stafford about his back, and he had the perfect joke before fielding any questions.
“You guys all want to talk about this paper cut I got last night opening some mail? That’s what I figured. Fire away,” he deadpanned.
One reporter obliged, asking him about said paper cut.
“Oh, good,” Stafford said, seemingly surprised that someone actually asked him about his cut. “Yeah, we glued it up. It felt great. Spun it around pretty good. Thanks for asking.”
NFL analyst suggests Rams trade away veteran starter (ramswire)
“While the Rams aren’t normally sellers, depth in their tight end room might give them an opportunity to accrue some capital for an aging star who may not start for much longer.
Bleacher Report’s Alex Kay wrote that the Rams could make a hypothetical trade with the Miami Dolphins where they move tight end Tyler Higbee for 2026 sixth-round pick. It’s not much, but Higbee is in the final year of his deal and just turned 32. A late-round pick is a nice small piece for a player who isn’t in their long-term plans.“
Rams Seventh Rounder Named Under The Radar Rookie (heavy.com)
“We know Sean McVay and Co. are unafraid to insert lower-drafted players into sizable roles in Los Angeles, and the seventh-rounder from Pittsburgh could very well be in line to see the fourth-most targets on this Rams team in 2025,” Trapasso wrote. Now, given that Puka Nacua and Davante Adams are distinctly ahead of everyone else in the receiving pecking order, who knows how many targets will be left over for Mumpfield and the other receiving options in L.A., but as a seventh-round pick, it’d be an accomplishment to see considerable run as a rookie.”
