Commanders trade RB Brian Robinson to 49ers for sixth-round pick
The San Francisco 49ers have acquired running back Brian Robinson Jr. from the Washington Commanders in exchange for a sixth-round pick, according to NFL insider Jordan Schultz.
A trade was all but inevitable after it was reported that the team was shopping Robinson, who was then held out of the Commanders’ preseason game against the Cincinnati Bengals. The former third-round pick out of Alabama is entering the final year of his contract and will slot in as the RB2 behind All-Pro Christian McCaffrey on the depth chart.
Robinson has had a strong start to his NFL career, grading no lower than 71.8 in his three seasons. He enjoyed his most productive season last year, averaging a career-high 3.00 yards after contact per attempt across his 223 attempts (including the playoffs).
Vikings have inquired about trading for Panthers WR Adam Thielen
The Minnesota Vikings have explored trading for Carolina Panthers wide receiver Adam Thielen, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Jordan Addison is set to serve a three-game suspension and Jalen Nailor is dealing with a hand injury, so the Vikings could use some help at the position. The veteran wideout turns 35 years old today and spent the first 10 seasons of his career in Minnesota after he signed as an undrafted free agent in 2013.
Thielen is still a productive player in the later stages of a career; he’s just one year removed from a season in which he recorded 103 receptions and 1,014 receiving yards. He missed seven games last season while dealing with a hamstring injury but was a difference-maker across his 10 games, earning a 76.4 PFF overall grade (30th among 133 qualifying wide receivers).
Panthers sign RT Taylor Moton to a two-year, $44 million extension
The Carolina Panthers signed right tackle Taylor Moton to a two-year, $44 million contract extension, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Moton was due $17.5 million in the final year of his deal and is now locked in through the 2027 season with $40 million guaranteed. The 2017 second-round pick has spent his entire eight-year career with the Panthers.
Moton has been one of the more underrated players in the league for years, bringing durability (averaging more than 1,000 snaps per season from 2018-2024) and productivity (top 25 in PFF overall grade in all but one season).
