After missing the postseason in back-to-back seasons, the Cincinnati Bengals are determined to get the franchise back on track this year.
Joe Burrow, Ja’Marr Chase, Tee Higgins, and Mike Gesicki are all back, and the offense has not missed a beat through the first two preseason games.
The big question mark for the Bengals this season is new defensive coordinator Al Golden and his unit.
Despite players and coaches saying there is nothing to worry about, the defense has had two very poor outings against the Eagles’ second-string offense and the Commanders’ first-string offense.
Could the defense hinder the Bengals from making the postseason? NFL’s Adam Rank and Ali Bhanpuri do not think so.
Bhanpuri has the Bengals going 10-7 in 2025 and squeaking into the wildcard as the seven-seed, while Rank projects the Bengals to finish 11-6 and winners of the AFC North, as the three-seed.
“It seems like the Bengals are going to try to compete without a defense this season, with Trey Hendrickson’s status fully in limbo and few impact additions to a unit that finished 25th overall in 2024. But that’s fine. They barely had a defense last year, and they were still one of the most frightening teams in the league. The Bengals will end up winning the AFC North this season,“ they wrote.
One thing is for sure, the Bengals CAN’T afford to waste another season of Joe Burrow in his prime, and the team MUST get back into the postseason.
We will see how it all unfolds here in a few weeks.
