Yahoo Fantasy Sports is currently unrolling their top-20 rankings across all position groups and the Vikings will be well-represented in at least one of them as T.J. Hockenson has been ranked as the No. 5 tight end in fantasy football ahead of the 2025 regular season.
Hockenson is coming off what was arguably his worst season as a pro as he missed seven games and only started nine contests. He managed to finish with 41 receptions and 455 receiving yards, but he somehow completely avoided the end zone, ending with zero scores on the year. The year prior, however, was one of Hockenson’s best.
In his first full season after being traded to the Vikings halfway through the 2023 season, Hockenson caught a career-high 95 passes and 950 yards to go with five touchdowns. The crazy part is he did it while still missing two games that year and only starting 11 of the 15 games he played in.
Granted that season was with veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins so it may be tough for him to match it with a first-time starter in J.J. McCarthy, but tight ends are usually a security blanket for young passers still getting adjusted to the speed of the pro game. That’s likely a big reason why Hockenson is being ranked so high by the fantasy community as of now.
