It is no secret that the NFL is one of the most valuable sports leagues in the entire world. The values among the 32 teams are wildly different, though.
It is unsurprising to find that the family-owned and still mostly controlled Cincinnati Bengals don’t boast an impressive standing being in such a smaller market.
Sportico has ranked them the least valuable franchise for the sixth season in a row. That comes with a pretty big caveat, though. The Bengals have a $5.5 billion valuation. The most valuable team, the Dallas Cowboys, is estimated to be worth $12.8 billion.
There are however several teams within arm reach of the Bengals. The Jacksonville Jaguars ($5.57 billion), New Orleans Saints ($5.6 billion), Arizona Cardinals ($5.66 billion), and Indianapolis Colts ($5.77 billion) all could have just as easily slipped into that bottom spot.
Sportico compiles this list using publicly available information, financial records, and industry insiders to come up with these valuations.
The team has been working on ways to improve the value of their team. Improving locker rooms as well as planning more improvements to the stadium to come with their new lease with Hamilton County.
The Bengals will always be near the bottom of these lists just based on where they are. Sure, winning helps make more money, but there is simply a cap to the amount of pull this team has. Especially with the Brown family at the helm, making decisions. Seemingly being forced, kicking and screaming, into modernizing their operations to put a successful team around their franchise quarterback.
