Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles links …
Eagles training camp player stock up/stock down media poll – PhillyVoice
We are now 10 practices into Philadelphia Eagles training camp, so as I do each year I polled the Eagles’ media contingent on which players have looked good so far throughout camp, and which ones have not looked so good. For this exercise, I asked 30 Eagles media people, all of whom have attended every practice (or close enough to it in almost all cases) to identify one player whose stock is up and one whose stock is down. […] For full disclosure, my vote was for Moro Ojomo, who is probably the chalk answer. I also considered rookie LB Smael Mondon, who has done something impressive almost every day. I also agree with the folks who voted for Gabe Hall, who has had a good camp and is very likely going to make the team after spending 2024 on the practice squad. [BLG Note: There was a four-way tie for second place with Jihaad Campbell, Josh Uche, Elijah Cooks, and Hall all earning three votes. I voted for Cooks but I agree that Ojomo deserves to be in the top spot.]
Eagles Film Review: Looking at the remaining 2024 rookies – BGN
Smith played just 96 offensive snaps all season, and when he did get on the field, I didn’t see the juice or suddenness I expected. There wasn’t the dynamic burst I had hoped would show up once he was working in space. I was underwhelmed. More than anything, I misread how he’d fit into Kellen Moore’s offense. “Smith is a perfect day 3 target for Kellen Moore’s offense… I think Smith could develop into a potential WR3/4 in this offense.” That never really happened. Moore didn’t feature a gadget-style slot weapon as much as I thought he might, and Smith’s lack of size and blocking ability meant he was rarely used. I envisioned him as a chess piece but he it didn’t happen. At this point, I’m not convinced he’ll make the roster. He didn’t flash enough to earn more reps last year, and while I wouldn’t be mad if he stuck over Johnny Wilson, I don’t think either has a guaranteed spot. I haven’t totally given up as the skill set still has value but he needs to show more explosiveness in camp. Otherwise, he will likely end up on the practice squad, rather than the 53 man roster.
2025 Preseason Preview – Iggles Blitz
RB – I hope Will Shipley gets a decent amount of carries (8-10). I want to get a better feel for him as potentially the #2 RB. He is a good receiver and I could see him getting a few catches in the game. Rookie ShunDerrick Powell has had some impressive moments in camp. It will be interesting to see what he can do in a game. He’s small, but explosive.
Can Uche rediscover elusive form from his monster 2022 season? – NBCSP
So what happened in 2022? And can Uche replicate that this year with the Eagles? “That year where I had 12 sacks or whatever it was, playing under Coach Belichick played a huge role in that,” he said. “My first year I was hampered by injuries, second year three sacks first two games, then ankle sprain or whatever. And then after (2022), we were hampered by … ” At this point Uche cuts himself off. “I can make all the excuses in the world, to be honest,” he said. “At the end of the day, you gotta play the cards you’re dealt. That year, the stars aligned and after that, life happened.” The Eagles signed two veteran edge rushers this offseason as they moved to replace Josh Sweat, who signed with the Cards; Brandon Graham, who retired; and Bryce Huff, who they unloaded to the 49ers after a miserable 2024 season. Uche and former Giant Azeez Ojulari have been battling in camp for the third edge spot behind Nolan Smith and Jalyx Hunt, and going into the preseason opener against the Bengals Thursday night at the Linc, Uche is in the lead. He’s shown an ability to rush the quarterback using both speed and power, and over the past week or so he’s really gapped Ojulari.
NFL preseason 2025: How to watch every Week 1 game, what to know for all 32 teams – NFL.com
EAGLES: The Eagles’ 2024 draft class was an influential one that helped Philadelphia hoist the Lombardi Trophy at the end of last season. General manager Howie Roseman is looking to have the same success with the 2025 Eagles rookies. While linebacker Zack Baun just signed a lucrative extension after a breakout season, Philadelphia still needed some depth at the position. Roseman spent the No. 31 overall pick on Alabama LB Jihaad Campbell, who was considered a steal late in Round 1. Campbell underwent shoulder surgery in March to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder, but he seems to be doing just fine in training camp, with defensive coordinator Vic Fangio impressed by the small strides the Alabama product continues to make. A good preseason from Campbell could move him up the depth chart ahead of second-year pro Jeremiah Trotter Jr.
The Eagles have utilized Jalen Hurts heavily in the run game. Is it sustainable? – Inquirer
The 2025 season is going to be his sixth year in the NFL, his fifth as a starter. You know how many notable quarterbacks have run as much as he has through 75 career starts? One. So, yeah, given how much the Eagles need Hurts on the field if they have any hopes of running it back for another championship, I thought asking Sirianni about Hurts’ workload on the ground was fair game. “We’re always thinking first and foremost when he carries the football, ‘How do we keep that scheme safe to keep him out of harm’s way?’” Sirianni said. So about that stat. When it comes to running the ball, there has been only one quarterback who has had more carries in the first 75 starts of his career than Hurts in the history of the NFL — Lamar Jackson. Jackson has averaged 11.3 rushes per game. Hurts is second at 9.8. That’s a lot of carries and opportunities for opponents to knock him out of the game. For the most part, Hurts has done a decent job of avoiding injury when running. But he’s also had a couple of late-season injuries that resulted in missed time. Year 5 is around the time when dual-threat quarterbacks often begin the process of running less and working more from the pocket. Take Jackson, for example. He’s already begun a downward trajectory in terms of his carries per game.
Eagles need this position group to step up and show it has depth during preseason – NJ.com
“I’ve trained with Nolan in the offseason,” said veteran Ogbo Okoronkwo, who was added to the Eagles’ edge-rushing group a day before training camp started. “He’s a freaky guy. He’s really fast, really twitchy and he’s way stronger than you’d think buy just looking at his frame. I think he’s going to be a really, really good player. I’ve played with some great edge rushers (the list is topped by Myles Garrett in Cleveland) and I think Nolan is going to be right there with those guys.” That would be ideal for the Eagles, but a strong rotation at edge rusher is almost as important as it is for a baseball team. A year ago the Eagles withstood the disappointing play of Huff, who was their most expensive free-agent addition, and the late-season injury to Graham.
Spadaro: What to look for in the Eagles’ preseason opener – PE.com
Which starting jobs are up for grabs? Fair question. Not a whole lot on offense, where the Eagles return 10 starters and truly are only seeing how the right guard spot plays out – Tyler Steen has looked terrific playing with the first unit there all summer – but the defense has a lot of change. There are legitimate challenges at linebacker, at cornerback, at safety. This is going to be great to watch – how much can rookies Jihaad Campbell and Smael Mondon impact the linebacker group? Where does Jeremiah Trotter Jr. fit in? Is Sydney Brown ready to be a big-time contributor at safety? Who wins the starting cornerback job opposite of Quinyon Mitchell?

Mike Gesicki, Noah Fant among Bengals not playing vs. Eagles – Cincy Jungle
Thursday night will be the first time we see how different the Cincinnati Bengals’ approach in the preseason will be. Zac Taylor has said the starters will play more, and that will be the case when the Bengals open the preseason in Philadelphia. While Joe Burrow, Ja’Marr Chase, and Tee Higgins will play, Mike Gesicki and Noah Fant will not play Thursday night, as well as Cam Taylor-Britt, Dax Hill, BJ Hill, Marco Wilson, Matt Lee, and Cedric Johnson.
Get to know Thomas Booker – Silver And Black Pride
How he will fit in with Raiders: Booker, who turns 26 in November, is known as a smart, high-character player who plays with a big motor. There is an opportunity at defensive tackle in Las Vegas and Booker has a real chance to make the 53-man roster and be part of the rotation. He hasn’t shown he can be a dynamic player, but he could be a solid backup.
Dan Quinn: Seven players didn’t travel with the team to New England – Hogs Haven
Dan Quinn and the Washington Commanders are in Foxborough, MA for a joint practice with the New England Patriots. He spoke to the media before practice started, and said that seven players didn’t travel with the team, including Terry McLaurin and Sam Cosmi who are on the PUP list. Marcus Mariota also didn’t travel as he’s dealing with a lower leg strain that Quinn didn’t seem too concerned with. Jayden Daniels will get a lot of work in during the joint practice, but Sam Hartman and Josh Johnson will be playing on Friday night.
Cowboys injury news: QB Joe Milton hurt his thumb in Tuesday’s scrimmage – Blogging The Boys
It goes without saying that keeping Milton healthy in general is a pretty top priority. While Milton is the team’s backup quarterback, he is so on a team with a starter in Dak Prescott who is somewhat injury-prone lately. Dak missed significant time in 2020, a single game in 2021, a handful in 2022 and over half of the season in 2024. These times missed were all due to different ailments so it’s not like there is one specific thing plaguing Prescott, but it all underscores how necessary it is for the Cowboys to have a backup quarterback who they can depend on. Interestingly, Prescott also hurt his thumb once upon a time (that was why he missed the handful of games he did in 2022). For a quarterback the digit is essential, and so it makes sense for the Cowboys to lean towards the side of caution with Milton.
Malik Nabers following Giants’ plan to make him ‘as healthy as I need to be’ – Big Blue View
There was a brief sense of alarm when New York Giants star wide receiver Malik Nabers went to the sideline during Wednesday’s practice and did not return. After practice, though, Nabers said there was nothing to be worried about. His lightened workload was “part of the plan” of “making sure I’m as healthy as I need to be when it’s time to play ball.” Nabers, of course, missed spring practices as he rehabbed a toe injury. He left a practice last week with a shoulder injury, but has shown no ill effects from that. Nabers said he is “doing fine” despite being seen spending a lot of time talking with the Giants trainers. [BLG Note: The Giants have to load manage their 22-year-old wide receiver?]
