With their first preseason game this Saturday in Western New York against the Buffalo Bills, the New York Giants have released their first unofficial depth chart of 2025.
Let’s go through some of the takeaways. Remember, these are entirely unofficial and largely generated by the team’s public relations department. So, what we see and what may be real might not match what the depth chart indicates.
Offense
- Jameis Winston is listed as QB2 and Jaxson Dart QB3. That may be how the Giants open the season, but it flies in the face of what we see on a daily basis during practice. In training camp practices open to media, Dart has been taking almost all of the second-team reps.
- Rookie fifth-round pick Marcus Mbow is listed as the second-team right tackle and third-team left tackle. That corresponds to what we have been seeing.
- With Andrew Thomas on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list, James Hudson is listed as the first-team left tackle, with Joshua Ezeudu as the backup. Ezeudu, in case you are wondering, has been used almost exclusively at tackle this summer.
- Greg Van Roten is listed as the starting right guard, with Evan Neal on the second team. That tracks with what we have seen in practice.
Defense
- Rakeem Nunez-Roches is listed as a starting defensive tackle next to Dexter Lawrence, with Roy Robertson-Harris on the second team. I don’t know how that competition will shake out.
- No. 3 overall pick Abdul Carter is listed as a second-team outside linebacker. That may be true as Carter has taken a lot of second-team reps, but he will play a lot.
- Cor’Dale Flott and Deonte Banks are listed as co-starters at cornerback opposite Paulson Adebo.
