Dolphins sign DI Zach Sieler to a three-year extension

The Miami Dolphins signed defensive tackle Zach Sieler to a three-year, $67.75 million extension with $44 million guaranteed, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Sieler has been one of the more underrated players in the NFL over the past few years. He was originally drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in the seventh round in 2018 but played just 56 snaps for the team across two seasons before he was released.

Sieler signed with the Miami Dolphins at the end of the 2019 season and has been a standout player ever since. His 20 sacks over the past two seasons are the most among interior defenders, and his 78.6 PFF overall grade in 2024 ranked 11th out of 118 qualifying players at the position.

Bills RB James Cook not practicing for second straight day

Buffalo Bills running back James Cook is not practicing for a second straight day for what he called “business” reasons, according to The Athletic’s Joe Buscaglia.

Bills general manager Brandon Beane said he was not “fully aware” of Cook’s decision to hold in after the young running back showed up and participated in the first week at camp. Cook is in the final year of his rookie deal and has been openly seeking a new contract.

Cook is coming off his best year as a pro, earning an 86.2 PFF overall grade to rank ninth among 59 qualifying running backs. Including the playoffs, he averaged 3.24 yards after contact per attempt and forced 47 missed tackles on the ground.

Falcons sign T Kaleb McGary to a two-year extension

The Atlanta Falcons and right tackle Kaleb McGary agreed to a two-year, $30 million contract extension Monday, according to NFL insider Jordan Schultz.

The former first-round pick out of Washington has developed into one of the better right tackles in the NFL, especially as a run blocker. His best season came in 2022, when his 86.6 PFF overall grade ranked fourth out of 81 qualifying tackles.

The Falcons have one of the stronger offensive lines in the NFL, landing eighth in PFF’s rankings heading into the 2025 season.

Buccaneers RB Bucky Irving continues to impress in year two

Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Bucky Irving “is viewed by people in the building as special enough to warrant a high-volume RB1 role” this season, according to ESPN’s Dan Graziano.

Irving was eased into action early on as a rookie, playing more than 25 snaps just once in the first five weeks. He dominated the playing time (and touches) out of the Buccaneers’ backfield down the stretch and was one of the league’s top running backs. That resulted in a 90.8 PFF overall grade, which ranked fourth out of 59 qualifying running backs.

Behind Irving on the depth chart is fourth-year running back Rachaad White, who led the team in snaps at the position (608) last season. White has been a productive player, as well, ranking among the top 25 NFL running backs in PFF overall grade last season (73.8). Tampa Bay will head into the 2025 campaign with one of the better running back duos.
